Jered Lyle Wilson

Jered Lyle Wilson, born in 1953, son of an Idaho farmer. Of Scotch / English descent, my great great grand parents moved to Idaho from Marshalltown Iowa to homestead a piece of the desert under the "reclamation act" about 1910. I grew up listening to the music of Jim Reeves, Marty Robbins, Sons of The Pioneers, Hank Williams, Don Gibson, Johnny Horton, Lefty Frizzell , Haggard & Jones when momma played the radio. But with teenage aunts & uncles who'd take me under their wings at times, was introduced to Elvis, Everly Bros, Frankie Vallie, Chuck Berry, Buddy Holly and all the rock of the 50'/60's at an early age. By the time I was a teen, I was fully into the Beatles, CCR, Rolling Stones, Beach Boys, Hollies, Paul Revere & The Raiders and all the rock of the 60's. But I never left my roots in Country, just incorporated the elements of all the influences as I began my music writing and singing in the 1970's.
In 1971 I got "saved" and started writing gospel tunes after a previous short try at "Rock". In 1977, I was offered a "record deal" with a indipendent small studio in Cozad Nebraska where was recorded my 1st album titled "Jesus, You're A Real Friend To Me" (released in 1978), and received nominal "airplay" nation wide. Then In 1979 I recorded & released a second gospel album titled "Going Home, with Jerry". That was recorded at the NW mecca of Ripcord Studios at Vancouver Washington, produced by Gene Breeden (former Buck Owens lead guitarist), also receiving nonminal airplay. I also performed at the Malhuer County fair in Ontario Oregon as the opening act to the band "Tarwater "in 1979. and also played at the Meridian Idaho "Dairy Days" as well as different churches in Southwest Idaho.
In 1982 I "backslid" spiritually, and falling away from God, much like Judas, I was "cut off" from God, but went out into gross sin. I began writing & singing Country music & singing in the bars & clubs of Eastern Idaho, helping to form the "Rocky Mountain Oyster Band". That venture was short lived due to the band breaking up. But In 1988, after traveling down the East Coast with Texas singer "Frankie Jo White". I finally made it to Nashville and recorded & released the Country album of "Backside". Mom called it my "Backslide album" recorded at Gene Breeden Studios and released again on Ada Records. A single was released from that album "Roll On 18 Wheels". I heard it play on KUPI radio Idaho Falls, & numbers of people reported hearing it on the radio, was also reported as the number ONE song being played on Juke boxes in Nampa, Idaho. beating out such tunes as "Set Em Up Joe" by Vern Gosden.
In 1989 The Lord came to me one day as I was musing about getting ready for the coming year's Harley riding events! He said; "Come On!" I replied; "I couldn't even if I wanted to."(I knew who & what I was). Then He said; "I'll cary you". And I said; "You'll have to". And once more He said; "Come on." And so I followed Him, and soon thereafter (Oct 1989) I was went to pastor a church at Idaho Falls. In 1991 I stumbled. Confused & empty, I resigned the church. I wandered, weary & hurting, wondering why & what had happend! Down & discouraged I, like Peter, went back to the old life I knew, working as before (but driving truck, not fishing).
In 1992, I found myself unable to live a consecrated life without His power. Though I did not go out into "gross" sin, I did sin, unable to rise above it, although I still loved the Lord dearly. I then in my dispair entered and won a songwriting contest sponsored by the Idaho Songwriters Association. The prize was a 4 hour recording session at a private local recording studio. In my downcast state, I recorded the vocal track for what would become the "Dream" album. This album was finished in Nashville in 2007.
Then with my back broken and my spirit bruised, He heard my cry! Once again I am pastoring a small flock (in Ola Idaho). So in 2011 the Lord moved so that I may release my 5th album "IN JESUS NAME" as a testimony of His faithfullness!
I hope that my life may be an encouragement to those of you who have lost your way. Dont give up on Him, He will not give up on you! Call on Him! The time is short, He is near. He still loves you!
