Kenny Meeks

Renowned independent recording artist Kenny Meeks continues to please fans and newcomers alike.
Songwriter and rock/pop/country/blues guitarist Meeks’ career wanders from his own Bluegrass and Blues projects, pop/rock (Sixpence None the Richer), Country (Buddy Miller sideman) and Hymn re-imaginer Sandra McCracken, to producing Folk artists like Jan Krist. Such diversity has drawn comparisons that vary from "Eric Clapton meets Merle Haggard", "Dire Straits meets Creedence Clearwater Revival", "Cat Stevens meets Johnny Cash". Meeks' songs seem to unravel some of the mysteries of life, and pose a few questions as well.
His most recent, "New Jerusalem" is a Southern Rock Gospel gem.
Meeks' solo effort, "Unfaded", was recorded with help from 2 Grammy award winners, producer Andrew Ramsey, and mastering engineer Hank Williams. This soulful blues-rocker's roots project features two guest vocalists, the soulful Nicole Smith, and the angelic Sandra McCracken. In 2000, he released his debut album, "Tell My Angel", to warm AAA and country radio acceptance and critical praise. On "Angel" fans enjoy Julie Miller's guest vocals on 3 songs! Sixpence None the Richer's Leigh Nash (Meeks' former band mate) sings a haunting duet vocal on the title track. Meeks' 2003 Blue Chapel project is bluesy gospel songs written and performed mostly live in the studio, channeling Rev. Gary Davis and Pops Staples. In addition to self-production, Meeks often wears other hats as musician, co-writer, and producer.
Discover for yourself why critics constantly classify Meeks' intelligent-rootsy music as "Everyman music; rock for folkies, blues for rockers, and neo-bluegrass that purists and newbies alike, admire and enjoy".
