Kirk Brundage

Kirk Brundage is a classically trained percussionist who went on to play in Brazilian carnaval. After a Fulbright to Denmark, an MFA from CalArts, and winning the Munich Competition, he got his professional start as an 'extra' with the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra and member of the Maelström Percussion Ensemble. Kirk also gave many solo performances around the US and Europe. However, his adventurous spirit took him to Cuba and Brazil to explore new musical horizons.

Since relocating to LA, highlights include: Brazilian carnaval with Olodum, the Latin Grammy’s with Brazilian pop-star Daniela Mercury, a show with “The Police” drummer Stewart Copeland, and a recording with Grammy-artist Beck. Kirk has taught at UCLA, appeared at PASIC, and self-released two percussion CDs. His book series “Afro-Brazilian Percussion Guide” is published by Alfred, which Modern Drummer magazine said: “...contains a huge amount of information, and would be of great value to high school and university instructors.” (Ben Meyer)
