Leah White

If you are tired of hearing the Wiggles driving around town with your kids asking you to play "fruit salad" one more time...then it's time to check out Leah White who is the recent winner of the Nickelodeon's Parent's Choice Award for Best Entertainer/ Music for 2009! It's the perfect alternative for original and rockin' children's music. Leah White's music is not just for children. The concept is music for both Children & Families. Check out the latest album released in Sept. 2009, A White Christmas. It's classic Christmas music that you've never heard before and inspired/ written based on Mom's feedback on what they feel is the essence of a modern family's holiday season. In Leah's debut album, Cake for Dinner, released in December 2007 under Zazoo Records, you will find music for all interests in the family. There are songs for boys (Bad Attitude), girls (Swing Set Takeover), mom (Carpooling Mom) & even a song for dad (Sunny Days). The next album in the pipeline will be focused more on education. Leah White will continue writing her own music and working more with her band to evolve the sounds and provide new and exciting material for her fans.

In September 2009, White released her first Christmas album collaborating with Producer & Musician, Paul Beebe, of Beebe Gunn Studios- www.paulbeebe.net. Beebe is a well-known Houston musical icon playing in multiple bands that play nationwide and premiere at Houston's prominent music scene, The Continental Club. His ability to be a versatile musician playing bass, drums, guitar (even Hawaiian steel guitar on the album) and vocalist helped develop the original songs written by White into accomplished and creative new material. It was shortly after recording together that Paul Beebe helped Leah White to form a band. Beebe called together drummer, Steve Candelari, and guitarist, Jim Henkel, to play Children's Music by day. Fortunately, all of these guys love the children's gigs and are kids at heart! They became known as "Leah White & The Magic Mirrors". "A White Christmas” is mostly a mixture of jazz, bluesy and old 50's/ 60's rock sounds that sound like classic Christmas songs but are original. The exquisite musicianship and talent of The Magic Mirrors takes the Children & Family music genre to a whole other level of superiority and excitement for families to enjoy.

Leah White's producer on the first album, Mike Griffith, from Coolfront Productions, brought forth hip-hop influences to Leah's music. According to Leah White while working with Griffith on the first album, "I love working with Mike because I tend to go towards more of a hill country/ Texas sound of acoustic guitar music and Mike gets me out of this rut of making all the songs sound the same by adding his beats and mixes to my original tunes." So you will hear everything from folk, hip-hop, funk to stray cat on this album which is fun and educational to introduce to young audiences. Cake for Dinner is played at every Leah White concert and children and families continue to enjoy the funky beats and the hysterical lyrics like "Your Breath smells like a Dead Armadillo."

Leah White lives in Houston, Texas with her husband Brian who loves to act as her Manager. Brian and Leah have three daughters: Lauren, 6; Nora, 4; Jillian, 18 months. Leah claims, "My daughters are my biggest fans. They come to every concert and are the wildest ones singing all of the songs and encouraging audience participation. It's the best part of what I do." Keep eyes out for Leah White coming to perform in your area. The calendar is updated on her website and performances include everything from Children's Museums, Zoos, Schools, local churches, Community Events, live Radio Show visits, Conferences for adults and birthday parties!
