Local Honey

Local Honey is an acoustic band which started in Toledo, Ohio. It plays original songs inspired by traditions from around the world while featuring the unique instrumentation of vibraphone, acoustic guitar, double bass, and drums. Occasionally they also add mandolin, cello, banjo, and harmonica to their arrangements. Their debut album is Blue Highway Lovechild, released in the Summer of 2011. This collection of songs features melodic vocals with layered harmonies, and diverse grooves borrowed from Rock, Reggae, Tango, Samba, Calypso, and more. Maybe Reggae is the first single from the band.

Vytas Nagisetty (vocals, guitar) has had a diverse career as a bassist, composer, and singer/songwriter. He has played bass with jazz legends, composed the score for feature films, and performed all over the world. In 1999 he made his debut as a singer/songwriter at Austin's South by Southwest festival. He holds bachelor degrees in music and French literature from UC Berkeley, and a bachelor degree in computer mathematics from the University of Toledo.

Steve Knurek (bass, vocals) is interested in a variety of musical styles. He studied music at the University of Toledo and participated in various ensembles. Jazz was his primary music concentration in college. He also became intrigued by the sounds of Latin America. Outside of school, Steve works as a bassist with several bands.

Joe Sneider (vibraphone) is currently the youngest member of Local Honey. He is on scholarship at The Berkelee School of Music in Boston. Along with vibes, Joe also plays drumset, guitar, and sings. He teaches percussion privately and has been a WGI and DCI world finalist. Joe has his hands dipped in many genres of music and Local Honey exemplifies many of his talents.

Bubba Baker (drums, vocals) and Vytas started working together as far back as 2005 - in a different band called the Electric Outfit. Bubba started drums at the age of eleven and comes from a musical family. He is well known in the Toledo area for his work with the bands Chopzilla and The Sweatpants.

Sean Lapan (mandolin) is well known in the Toledo area as a guitarist. He also has been making a name for himself on mandolin accompanying standout local talent like Kyle White and Jeff Stewart. He also leads his own group, A Box of Cats.
