Lucy Kobusingye

Lucy Kobusingye was born in Bisya village in rural Uganda. Second youngest of eight children, Lucy was the only one in the family who got a formal education, thanks to her missionary benefactors who paid for her education. It was these same missionary friends who awarded Lucy a one year scholarship for study at Parma High School in Idaho, USA. Ten years later, her Parma friends sponsored her and her 2 years old son's return to Idaho to escape the aftermath of Dictator Idi Amin.

Lucy launched her nursing career at St. Alphonsus Hospital in Boise, Idaho in 1986, where she has worked for the past 22 years. In 2008, Lucy was the first St. Alphonsus hospital nurse ever to be awarded the President's commendation award.

Lucy's greatest passion is to aid in educating children in her native homeland, making financial contributions to St. Francis Family Helper Program in Uganda. The program was founded by Mary Moran, one of Lucy's former high school teachers. It provides opportunities for education and counseling to poor children and their families.

Over the years, Lucy has lost four siblings to preventable and treatable tropical diseases. This has been a force in Lucy's life, driving her to pursue a nursing career and to be the best possible nurse for those who are sick and in need. She continues to affect change and make a difference in the lives of others.

The music on the CD Gather All Your Children came to Lucy during turbulent periods of uncertainty and despair, and provided a much needed source of healing and refuge. We hope that wherever you are on your life's journey, the music you hear will touch you in a unique and special way, reminding you that God is faithful, ever constant and will gather all of His children who are greatly loved.
