Magnetic Wind

Magnetic Wind focuses on organic, electronic blends of ambient with abundant textures and occasional female vocals creating ethereal drift, dark and light ambient. “Ancestry, autobiography and relationship are predominant themes in my work. It is deeply rooted in electro-acoustic sound design. As an artist, my tools are electronically-processed acoustic percussion, voice, esraj, tanpura, viola, dulcimer, laptop electronics, acoustic piano, field recordings and amplified objects.”

This versatile artist has composed and performed in a variety of genres for over two decades. Her early influences were George Winston and Liz Story, as well as Fresh Aire and Mannheim Steamroller. Later she would combine her love for shoegaze and the ethereal, work with nationally famous gospel artists and producers and explore pop and rock. But the roots in her soul have always been in the ambient and new age genres.

Her original compositions have been released on the following labels: Rain, Endless Ascent, Sound4Good, EPD (Portugal), Free Floating, BWF Recording, JWM, Magnetic 5280 and Divine Alchemy. Her music is available commercially on CD Baby, iTunes and various other electronic distributors with physical CD’s available at Reverbnation. She has had her work played on Hearts of Space, KCUR’s NightTides, Stillstream.com, Nightscaping with Har, Disorganized Sound with Dr. Steve, Sadayatana, Mysterious Semblance with Tange, Metlay, Time Drone with Jack Hertz, SomaFM Space Station Soma, Animas Lumina (Brazil), This Ambient Life, AiiRadio with Steven Barber , Radio Mystic (Santa Fe), Our Place Radio and One World Radio (UK) and many more stations. Alan Herrick of Netlabelism.com featured her album La Petite Morte in 2011, where it found rave reviews and was followed by additional outstanding reviews from various new age reviewers including Mark Blood for it’s haunting sound and the departure from her signature drifting ethereal. All proceeds from album sales go to Hospice Association of America. In 2011 she became partially deaf but continues to release and compose music. She’s inspired by the Fluxus movement and embraces electro-accoustic conceptual composition. Her musical study includes The UMKC Conservatory of Music, Park College, and The Institute of Transpersonal Psychology (Creative Expression).

She has been a featured artist on Stillstream.com, Our Place Radio, One World Radio UK, RadioMystic (Santa Fe), Mysterious Semblence with Tange, Nightscaping with Har, Free Floating with Brad Ross McCleod and At Water’s Edge with Rebekkah Hillgraves.
