Mark Louis Miller

Mark Miller is a multi-instrumentalist, composer and singer songwriter who writes, sings and plays in a variety of styles including Jazz, Folk, Alt-Country and Rock. Mark is a graduate of the Berklee College of Music and has worked as a studio session player; performed solo, as a band leader and as a sideman for a variety of artists and bands; worked as an arranger as well as writing, recording and performing his own material.

His new independently released CD, One Lane Bridge is a collection of instrumental compositions influenced by folk music from around the globe. One Lane Bridge features guest appearances from 2010 Grammy winning Cellist/Composer David Darling, Grammy winning guitarist Ken Emerson, award winning movie/tv composer/instrumentalist John Lissauer, renowned drummer/clinician Frank Bellucci, multi-instrumentalist Dan Bonis, guitarist Chris Davis, musician/potter Guy Wolfe, clarinetist Roy Fortunato and percussionist John Marshall.

Marks’ first cd, Fresh Air, is a jazz project of his original compositions. Fresh Air features contributions from Frank Bellucci on drums (co-producer), Rob Barraco on keyboards (has played with Phil Lesh and the Grateful Dead), also on Keyboards Bill Heller (The Rippingtons), Mario Cruz on saxes (has performed with Bruce Springsteen, Joe Cocker, Dave Edmunds and Jaco Pastorius), John Scarpulloon sax (among others Tower of Power, Billy Joel, Jennifer Lopez).

Mark also played guitar on the soundtrack to the indie film Swimmers, whose soundtrack was composed by David Darling. Swimmers, directed by Doug Sadler, won awards at US and European film festivals.

He also co-authored the book World Beat Encyclopedia with percussionist John Marshall, published by Alfred Publishing and the National Guitar Workshop. This book is a collection of rhythmic patterns from various regions of the world (North African, Mid-Eastern, South American, etc.). It includes an audio CD as well as the notation for guitar melodies and strumming patterns Mark composed to accompany the different world music rhythms.
