Mars Lasar

Although he identifies as a new age artist, Mars Lasar has also had a discreet impact on the development of electronic music at large, and has worked on platinum recordings within other genres.

Born and raised in Australia, the Los Angeles-based keyboardist and composer combined formal music training and love for technology, and eventually developed a passion for sequencing and sampling. For several years, he was employed by Fairlight Music Computers and helped create and demonstrate the very first computer music sequencer "Page R", the sequencer included in the Fairlight CMI, a synthesizer/sampler heard on advanced early '80s recordings by the likes of Kate Bush, Herbie Hancock, Peter Gabriel, Tears for Fears, Frankie Goes to Hollywood, Duran Duran and many more. In the '90s Mars started to release his own albums "The Eleventh Hour" being one of the most popular, you can see his entire catalog at Mars still releases albums today.

Lasar's reach extended the most during the '90s, when he worked on Seal's debut album (specifically the smash hit "Crazy") and the Jason's Lyric soundtrack (through Savory's "love is Still Enough"). Both albums were certified platinum. The same decade, he collaborated and co-produced with Herbie Hancock on Dis Is Da Drum and started issuing his own projects/albums at a prolific rate. The releases began with Olympus, an album that hit Billboard's new age albums chart and was used by the CBS network during the telecast of the 1992 Winter Olympics. Through series such as BabyEscapes and MindScapes, along with other conceptual releases like When Worlds Collide, Yosemite Valley Of The Giants, Tahoe Spirit, Vertical Velocity and AfterWorld. Lasar's productivity didn't let up through to current day. Mars' stylistic range goes from chillout groove, world fusion, lively dramatic electronic music, nature soundtrack soundscapes to meditation/sleep music,. While these releases classified as new age, they were free of stylistic restrictions. So unlike other artists, you will find a vast range of music in his 50+ album catalog. Additionally, Lasar's music is regularly used for programs on major network television, ranging from MTV, ESPN, ABC, FOX, America's Got Talent, Andy Kellman, Rovi, and more.

Also, many Lasar fans don't know that he is also a successful and prolific fine art photographer. His fine art photography art hangs in many homes and businesses around the country. You can see this extensive photography catalog at
