max Yasgur's Farm

max Yasgur’s Farm is a '60s cover band bringing “The Summer of Love” back in high-energy hippy style. The music is lovingly reproduced and respectful of the styles of the bands portrayed. Since 2004, "mAX YASGUR'S FARM - A salute to Woodstock era acoustic music" Has been providing audiences a tour of the Hippie Music Revolution.

The band is a Rock & Roll Retrospective Romp, a Far-Out, Festive Filled, Flower-Powered, Fling through the Summer of Love of the '60's

"Yasgur's Farm", which takes it's name from the farmer who leased his property to the Woodstock Festival promoters in 1969 has been gaining a reputation for its complex vocal harmonies, driving guitar work and faithful renditions of the music of the period. Guitarist Dan Mikeal brings back those compelling guitar solos with all the richness and fun that the 60’s represented. His skills are even more impressive when you consider that he has been blind from birth. “Dan does not see himself as disabled,” comments band leader Doug Robertson, “just a few minutes with him and you forget all that and see him as a powerful personality.” Mikeal is a load of fun to watch work as well. At one point the musician is featured “channeling” Jimi Hendrix, at another point, he is flying Frisbees from the stage to an audience clamoring for him to throw it to them.

The group's high energy and vocally challenging performances feature songs that are rairly attempted by other bands. CSN's "Suite Judy Blue Eyes"; Doby Grey's "Drift Away"; Eagles "Peaceful Easy Feeling" have become the mainstay of the powerful hits the "farm" drives home. While doing tribute to some of the well known groups from the Woodstock Festival, (Jimi Hendrix and Crosby, Stills & Nash). They also cover other bands of the time, America; The Eagles; Beatles, Stones, and Fleetwood Mac among others.

Showmanship is the glue that bonds the audiences with this 6 piece group. Not only are they intriguing to listen to, but the act is a visual delight as well. "We wear colorful 'hippy' clothing, pass out flowers, jump around on stage and clown with each other and the crowd," Robertson continues, "We have a blast when we get together and we invite the spectators to join in on the fun." Audiences seem to agree as they are steadily growing from show to show.

You might have seen them performing at Northern Nevada and California venues such as The Great Basin Brewing Co.; Sparks Nugget Rib Cookoff; Tahoe Valley Campground, Nevada's Casinos and various festival events.
