Pamela Rose

Pamela Rose is a San Francisco jazz and blues vocalist who has thrilled audiences locally and internationally with her swinging, soulful style. Rose is that rare breed of entertainer who connects solidly with her audience by always delivering a personal and unforgettable musical experience. Her rich, bold, warm voice and easy rapport with excellent musicians moves jazz and blues audiences of all ages.
“Outstanding vocals…Pamela Rose hits that jazz and soul sweet spot”. Frank John Hadley, DownBeat

Pamela Rose deeply enjoys the creative collaborations she’s been involved with, on and off the stage, reflected in seven recordings under her name:

"BLUES IS A WOMAN – Original Cast Album" (2017), "Hammond Organ Party!" (2014), "Wild Women of Song: Great Gal Composers of the Jazz Era" (2009)," Just For a Thrill" (2006), "You Could Have It All" (2001), "Every Time I’m With You" (1996) and "On the Jazzy Side of Blue" (1993).

But many music lovers deeply appreciate Pamela Rose for her touring "Wild Women of Song" shows, which celebrate remarkable women who helped define American Music.

"Wild Women of Song: Great Gal Composers of the Jazz Era”, still tours nationally, shining a light on women songwriters of Tin Pan Alley. Rose’s companion book of the same title (available with CD) reflects her years of research, and sells out at every venue she performs.

In 2017 Rose will launch a new show, along with a new recording "BLUES IS A WOMAN". This theatrical concert features star vocal turns from her stellar cast of Bay Area blues and jazz musicians, Tammy Hall, Pat Wilder, Daria Johnson, Kristen Strom and Ruth Davies. The work is the result of years of love and research, exploring the unique, powerful, fierce voice of women in blues from Ma Rainey to Bonnie Raitt and beyond.

Pamela Rose has also recorded two albums devoted to the sounds of the B-3 organ, which she is 'profoundly addicted to'.
" Hammond Organ Party!", featuring Hammond B-3 master Wayne De La Cruz “Hammond Organ Party! is just filled with great music…an exceptional collaboration…Rose and De La Cruz have hit a home run!” - Pete Fallico, Doodlin’ Lounge

"You Could Have It All" is an all-original funk filled album featuring organist Tony Stead (Sly and the Family Stone, Tommy Castro). "Jazz-Blues Queen Pamela Rose and her funky, swinging Hammond B-3 organ band fires up these tracks with her earthy, rhythm-driven style. “
Eric Kos, Alameda Sun

Pamela Rose is on the faculty of the Berkeley JazzSchool, and tours, teaches and sings in the Bay Area that she loves so dearly.
