Rabbit Velvet is Danielle Kimak Stauss' solo electronic chill pop project. The debut album, Crows and Doves has made a teeny splash in the ways of indie and college radio. KALX/U.Berkeley and WRSU/Rutgers let is set up on some DJS "Best of Lists" for 2010, and it made the CMJ local listings, as well, along with other press and djs giving it air and fine accolades around the globe. In spring of 2012, BBC London played the track "Beautiful Things", on its "Introducing" and "Rewind" syndications. Two simultaneous digital releases in 2017 are "Fuzz Mother" - the main event, and "Ochre Ombre" the bittersweet twin sister of this set, have already seen some airplay on college radio, and support from Simon Raymonde of Cocteau Twins/Bella Union Records, at Amazing Radio.

Formerly Stauss was the lyricist/vocalist for retro-goth surf wonders, NYC based "The Lost Patrol", for their first six + albums, and co-vocalist for Asbury Music Award Winners (Best Vocalist and Best Acoustic Band), NJ coast acoustic coffeehouse sweethearts, "Afterglow".

Rabbit Velvet uses only musical typing, original and borrowed/altered loops, guitar, percussion, and voice to create these rock-pop-dance floor accessible pieces. Stauss takes a sonic turn in Fuzz Mother/Ochre Ombre adding in more fuzz and reverb on production, some riveting guitar work, and hits some deeper moodiness. Influences range from Siouxsie and the Banshees, The Verve and Dusty Springfield, to big screen Bollywood dance finales, mixed with psychedelic tinged production that lend them a unique ambiance. Stauss frames her honey laden vocals with a brocade of reverb, and velvety rich string/synth accompaniment on these lush arrangements. Add in advice and mastering from Grammy Award Winning engineer, Larry Alexander (Devo, Sisters of Mercy, David Bowie) to round out the sound on the debut, "Crows and Doves" for a rich, sonic feast of melody and atmosphere.
