Rooster Alley

Rooster Alley is a house rockin’, fun lovin’, blues band from Central Illinois, made up of seasoned musicians who know how to entertain. Started in 1992 by original members Dennis “Bozman” Bosley & Danny “Poondanny” Meyers, their music is a combination of Chicago, Texas and Delta Blues. Their house rockin' original blues comes straight from their soul. They play primarily original material that was written based on their experiences; their music creates a positive atmosphere for the band members and the audience. The band’s energy mixed with the audience response is a phenomenal experience each and every time.

The other members are Dave “the Steep” Hill on guitar, slide guitar & vocals and Tom “TJ” Jolliff on drums. They have played all over the Midwest since 1992. They have played at Peoria Illinois River City Blues Festival five times, the Mid-Mississippi Muddy Waters Blues Festival, South Skunk Blues Society Blues Festival and the Ain’t Nothing’ But the Blues Fest in Bloomington, Illinois several times. Rooster Alley was the winner of the 2002 Illinois Blues Challenge. They are a regional club & bar room favorite.

They also have a CD “Cock of the Walk” and a DVD “The Gospel Truth” on Chicken Skin Records. Also check ‘em out on Facebook & see videos on You Tube from the Contemporary Art Center in Peoria & various blues festivals.

Dennis “Bozman” Bosley

He’s also not afraid to get a crowd going at the venues the band plays. One of the Midwest’s most talented guitarists and harp players, he has been on five CD’s and DVD’s.

Dave “The Steep” Hill
Dave has been with Rooster Alley for the past 7 years. He’s another one of those slide-guitar, lead guitarists that everyone should be aware of. He remembers the car ride with his mother to pay for his 1st guitar with $15 worth of green stamps, and years later worked all summer on a farm to buy his 1st real electric guitar. He formed his first band “Under the Hill” in 1973 and evolved through the years with Brother’s Keeper and Terra Firma, where they mixed original and obscure material with music by the Allman Brothers Band, the Grateful Dead, Eric Clapton, and various blues artists, sometimes within the same jam. He also played in the band The Mud Kats for several years with “Bozman” and “Poondanny” in the 90s. Dave is always coming up with innovative new blues licks, getting people’s attention.

His inspirations are as diverse as Elmore James, Duane Allman, Dickey Betts, Freddie King, Johnny Winter, Roy Buchanan, Otis Rush, Rory Gallagher, Eric Clapton, Clarence White and Frank Zappa.

Always involved in music, Tom spent many years as a sound man. He started his own sound company in 2000, doing sound at various festivals and venues throughout the Mid-West.
