Siddhartha Barnhoorn

Siddhartha Barnhoorn is an award winning film composer with a love for ambient music. He is a multi-instrumentalist with his main instrument being the guitar. Aside from guitar he also plays a variety of ethnic instruments like the shakuhachi, duduk, bouzouki and sanshin, just to name a few. These instruments along with his guitars, synths and lots of acoustic recordings of other instruments like the didgeridoo are moulded together in a dense mix of textures and ambiences on his ambient album "Pillars of Light".

Sid has composed music for film projects since 2004. In that same year he started his study Composition for the Media, at the Utrecht School of the Arts, Faculty of Art, Media & Design in Hilversum. In August 2008 Sid graduated as Master of Arts in Composition in Context. From 2004 to 2011 he has scored over 70 films not to mention composed music for documentaries, trailers, commercials, concertwork and now also albumwork with the release of "Pillars of Light". He has always been inspired by various music from rock/metal, bands like Pink Floyd, Camel, Blind Guardian, Planet X and more, to electronica / ambient, like Tangerine Dream, Steve Roach, ZIA and many more, to ethnic music from Japan, China, South America, Armenia and more, to filmmusic, with a couple of favourite composers being Jerry Goldsmith, John Williams, Toru Takemitsu, Joe Hisaishi and many more, and the work of many concert composers like Claude Debussy, Maurice Ravel, Ralph Vaughan Williams, Dimitri Shostokovich, Richard Wagner, György Ligeti, Einojuhani Rautavaara and more. He is an ambitious composer aimed to compose high quality, well crafted and unique works for each project.
