“Music for the imagination” has always been my motto. Although music usually serves as listening entertainment for many, I like to take it a step further and create something that communicates and stirs the soul so that the listener is moved toward another aspect of life, which is the fact that there is a God who created all and He desires to fellowship with us.

I began playing the piano at age 7 and French horn at 16. I remember when the Walter Murphy Band released the disco piece called “A Fifth of Beethoven” in 1976. I was drawn to it for some reason. Then a friend introduced me that year to the actual Beethoven Fifth Symphony on an old 78 rpm record. I couldn’t believe my ears. I never heard anything so amazing.

In 1977 Star Wars came out into the movie theaters and John Williams was the score’s composer. The soundtrack style was something that people had never heard before where so much power and emotion reflected what was seen on the screen. Needless to say, I was memorized by it so much, I returned over and over again to see and hear it, noticing how the music carried the visual action from the screen.

After many years of absorbing the correlation between film and music, I found myself longing to express ideas that I heard in my head. Unfortunately, the piano sound alone was limiting my full need for expression, even though I tried to make it sound like an orchestra.

Eventually, MIDI synthesizers and sample-sound keyboards came into being as computer components and technology advanced. Getting my first MIDI keyboard in 1990, I began working on musical themes I could hear playing in my head. Several major upgrades and purchases were made throughout the many years to further improve the quality of sounds. Composing music is the thing I love most in life.

Some of the many composers who have influenced my style are: Beethoven, John Williams, Hans Zimmer, Mannheim Steamroller, James Newton Howard, Vangelis, Yanni, Richard Strauss, and Mozart.
