Taylor is a 25-year old saxophone player originally from Narmata, BC (just outside Penticton, in the Okanagan), currently residing in Toronto. He is a graduate of the Jazz Performance Program at the University of Toronto.

The Cook Book, Taylor’s upcoming release, is the culmination of his original compositions that he has arranged for a variety of ensemble configurations. The CD, produced by Rolling Stones saxophonist Tim Ries, features 20 of Toronto’s finest young musicians as well as multi-Juno award winner Mike Murley.

Previous recordings include The Tayster Menu in 2014, a live recording from his 4th year recital at University of Toronto in 2011, For Lilia in 2009, and his debut album Here We Go in 2008.

Taylor is active both as a performer and educator. He teaches private group and one-on-one lessons for saxophone, clarinet and composition, as well as clinics and master classes covering a wide range of jazz and music related topics.

Besides leading his own groups, Taylor plays with The Toronto Jazz Orchestra, Yasgurs Farm, and Band Bahja Brass for concerts, weddings and private events in Southern Ontario. He has taken his own band on 3 major BC tours: in 2008 with his debut recording; 2010 during the Vancouver Olympics; and most recently in 2011.

Taylor also regularly forms part of pit orchestras for theatre productions in the Toronto area. Past productions include Jerry Springer the Opera, City of Angels, West Side Story, Annie, Chicago and The Rocky Horror Show, Miss Saigon and many others.

Over the years, Taylor has studied with music greats such as Campbell Ryga, Phil Dwyer, Perry White, Gene Hardy, Stu Goldberg, Alex Dean, Dave Young, Jim Vivian, Donny McCaslin, Rich Perry, John Johnson, Tim Ries, Terry Promane, Camille Watts, Richard Thompson, Phil Nimmons and Mike Murley.

Outside of his music life, Taylor is a manager and head fitter at Sweet Pete’s Bike Shop in Toronto, is an avid cyclist, amateur triathlete and Blue Jays fan.
