Terese Genecco

TERESE GENECCO is a singer, bandleader, actor and comedian who is best known as "the longest-running nightclub act on Broadway" (4 ½ years) at the world-renowned Iridium Jazz Club in Times Square,with her 8-piece “Little Big Band.”

A 4X MAC Award winner (Best Recording-2008; Best Female Vocalist-2009, Best Female Major Vocalist-2012 and Show of The Year-2012), Genecco first came to prominence in New York City when she brought her acclaimed jazz/musical creation, “Drunk With Love: A Tribute To Frances Faye!” to Manhattan from its world premiere in San Francisco. The show, which she recorded live for her debut CD, was a Time Out NY Top 10 pick in 2006. Her “Drunk With Love: The Sequel!” again played San Francisco, Los Angeles, and New York, earning her another Top 10 nod from Time Out NY and a Bistro Award in 2007. Genecco won another Bistro Award in 2012 for her musical collaboration with jazz singers Shaynee Rainbolt and Billy Stritch for their 95th Birthday Tribute Concert in honor of composer/arranger Russell Garcia.

Genecco has been a headliner from coast to coast and around the world with major engagements on The West Coast at The M Bar in Los Angeles, The Rrazz Room in The Hotel Nikko, The Great American Music Hall, Yoshi’s Jazz Club, The Herbst Theater, SF Pride Main Stage, and the Fillmore Jazz Festival in San Francisco. Appearances in New York City include The Iridium, The Cutting Room, B.B. King’s Blues Club, The Mabel Mercer Foundation’s Annual Cabaret Convention at Jazz @ Lincoln Center, Symphony Space, The Tribeca and White Plains Performing Arts Centers, NYC Pride Rally Main Stage, and all of the smaller cabaret venues in the city. She has opened for Grammy Winner Steve Tyrell at the Bergen Performing Arts Center in New Jersey and shared a marquis with Paul Anka at The Peppermill Hotel & Casino in Reno. Genecco has also toured New Zealand with The 95th Birthday Tribute to Russell Garcia and played The Basement Jazz Club in Sydney with her Australian "Little Big Band."

Genecco released "Drunk With Love: A Tribute To Frances Faye" in May of 2006 and “Live From The Iridium NYC" in March 2012. She is a graduate of Syracuse University’s Drama Department, a produced playwright, and the owner and president of Mulligan Productions. She won the “Punt, Pass and Kick” competition in her age category as a teenager but was deprived of a trophy because she is a girl. Her single, "If I Was A Boy" is also available from CD Baby and other online retailers.
