Terry Woolard

As a pre-teen, I began listening to and identifying with music of all genres. In high school my thirst for music deepened and I continued my private piano lessons. I became passionate about advancing my musical education. I studied jazz improvisation and music theory at Wesleyan University. I began performing at various functions around the community and landed a job as a music accompanist at Wesleyan, which greatly expanded my range and skills. Shortly thereafter, I began working on my first recording.

In 2001, I launched my first full-length CD entitled “What’s Up Little Man.” It was a combination of smooth R&B and lyrical compositions. I began receiving radio airplay on various college stations. Soon after that I began working on my second album. And in 2005, I released my second CD, “It’s All About Love,” a more lyrical album which demonstrated an even broader range of ideas and productions. Subsequently, I released several more albums: “White House Under New Management,” “I Know It Feels Good,” “It Is What It Is,” “Keepin' It Real, “I'm Marrying an Angel,” and “Enough is Enough,” as well a tribute to my late brother “The Beautiful Testimonies of Brother Walter Sherod Woolard.”

In 2008, I met my greatest inspiration, Stevie Wonder, which was a surreal experience! In 2009, I landed an endorsement with Korg.

Over the past decade, I have traveled and performed at many venues, including The 92 Theatre, Crowell Concert Hall, CFA Studios, The World Music Hall at Wesleyan University, The Hartford Ballroom, Cedar Hill, and Bushnell Park. I have also performed in Manila, Philippines, on several military bases around the US, and numerous churches throughout the East Coast and Canada.

I am currently working on a new release, a more inspirational composition in a Caribbean style, which will be completed the Summer of 2018.
