The Frank Flight Band

The Frank Flight Band is the culmination of a twenty year long journey into the sub-underground hinterland of psychedelic music, by a disaffected group of musicians, still in thrall to the spirit of the long dead 60’s, but firmly rooted in the here and now. Their trip took them from the West Coast of America, to the (North) West Coast of England, via San Franciscan freak-outs, English folk-whimsy, detours into blues rock and all points in between. On a voyage featuring a cast of characters and locations straight out of a Kafka novel and in search of the fountain head of all things unconventional, The Frank Flight Band ran the gamut of bizarre episodes, bruised and battered egos, unscrupulous record companies, apocryphal gigs. The game plan was simple: there was no game plan. Alcoholism, breakdowns, petulance, unrivalled adventures, amazing gigs, sacked members - who subsequently returned and were eventually sacked again, industrial quantities of dope, weird fans - verging on stalkers, crap managers, crap would be managers, rip-off merchants and unscrupulous record companies, the band entertained them all. With enough material to fill a small library, it is a tribute to their tenacity and belief in their music, that most of the original members are still here to tell the tale.Their first album “Outrunning the Sun” was recorded between September 1998 and March 1999. The Master tapes remained on a shelf for ten years, until they decided to release it in 2009. Their second album “The Sun Will Shine on You” was recorded between November 2009 and March 2010, releasing it in 2011. “Remains” the band’s third album was recorded between June 2012 and May 2013, released on 21st June 2013.
In late 2014 studio recordings were re-discovered of a lost album. Whilst the band are getting a new suite of songs ready to begin recording our latest album, we have taken the time to revisit the past. The unreleased old to us / new to you album called "The Usual Curse" contains a very different bunch of songs, recorded in the mid 2000's plus two newly recorded tracks. The original tapes have been remastered, updated and feature Dave Thornley on lead guitar including the two new tracks. This album has now finally been released on 28th April 2015.The journey continues…………..
