Vivid Peace

Vivid Peace is a duo of artists, music by Jim Pearson and photographic art by Margaret Denny.

Jim Pearson, as recording artist "Vivid Peace," started his musical journey as a young child listening to music from the early times of classical music all the way to the beginning of 60s rock music. He participated in school bands and orchestras from grade school all the way through college, playing woodwinds, guitar, orchestral strings, and tuned percussion.

Through his time in college at Appalachian State University, NC, USA, Jim studied Music Education, theory, composition, and pedagogy. During these formative years, Jim studied extraordinary music from all of his contemporary favorites to the great composers of Baroque, Romantic, Modern abstract, Impressionistic, and many more. With ready access to a dizzying array of instruments, Jim began the process of a life-long journey: compose and explore the Impressionistic music idea, but with modern instrumentation and modern sensibilities.

After college, Jim took time out from music composition and performance to raise a family and work as a software engineer. In 2003, Jim Pearson developed the spiritual idea of "Vivid Peace" and "Live Life Out Loud." His connection with Living In the Moment and learning to live as a spiritually free person led him to begin a return to music composition and musical expression. With his early experiments in recording in a home setting in 2004, Jim began composing new kinds of instrumental music with Vivid Peace in mind.

In the beginning, Jim taught himself recording techniques and the use of recording software. Between 2004 and 2009, Jim released 8 experimental albums with his previous artist name "Jimmy Bear Pearson." Although the albums were not a critical success, they laid what would become the groundwork for his distinctive musical style and broad palette of tones and musical compositions - the fruition of music as Vivid Peace!

By 2009, Jim began the Vivid Peace web site and began releasing new albums with the artist name "Vivid Peace," beginning with the 2010-released "Clio." Clio was the last album of compositions started in 2003 and ended with the extraordinary changes in life he experienced in 2009.

Since 2009 Jim has released 7 studio albums, with the latest being "Ocularium - An Interstellar Journey." Each album has been a departure from the previous album, with new stories to tell, new spiritual awakenings to explore, and new musical textures to enjoy. Ranging from bluesy-rock progressive instrumentals to meditation instrumentals, to "Ocularium's" return to soft progressive rock instrumentals, Vivid Peace has continued to defy genre boundaries and push the envelope to newer and more enjoyable music.

With "Ocularium" released, Jim is in the process of making music videos, exploring new instrument boundaries, and composing the next in the series of the "Ocularium" story. Stay tuned! The music is a journey!
