Wendy Schettig

Wendy was raised on a farm north of Philadelphia, PA. In the evenings with one hundred acres of peace and quiet around, she played guitar and wrote songs for entertainment. Fingerpicking folk music was a huge influence on her guitar style as was blues and ragtime. The rolling farmland and woods provided the setting while humming a tune seemed the natural thing to do. Somewhere in her early teens, a family breakup changed her scenery to the coast of Maine. Wendy worked on the Windjammer cruise schooners for several summers while finishing highschool. She taught guitar and started performing her music. Once graduated, she opened a folk music shop in town with all the fixin’s for great acoustic music. Her songs took her along the northern coast to performance halls, restaurants and bar rooms. However, the call of “something more” made her restless after five years; she sold her store and headed back to PA - to her roots. Wendy’s music took a new turn when she discovered that “something more” was God. With a new focus and a renewed heart, Wendy wrote songs about the call of God to heal from old wounds and be refreshed with new hope. She has performed them as a soloist or with several different bands over the years. She has released two CDs to date of her original music: “Beyond This Place” and “Rise”. She teaches guitar and currently is performing as a soloist from Delaware to Maine.

What is different about Wendy’s songs are the soulful lyrics with melodies that take you to a place in your spirit where you may not have been for a while. Some songs are about hard lessons in life, others are about finding answers in God’s creation, while others just make you want to smile. You’ll imagine compelling landscapes, feel a quiet resonance of God, notice a stirring (and sometimes a happy skip) in your heart, and find yourself humming along. Wendy is ever planning to release more music as the songs keep coming. She hopes to help people find the “something more” that lies within all of us. Be blessed.
