Wilfred Kozub

Wilfred Kozub is an Edmonton (Canada) musician and multi-media artist. In 1984, as Wilfred N & the Grown Men, he released his group's debut album, Riding Double, out of his basement studio – a local pioneering DIY vinyl record. Wilfred Kozub has not stopped since. HIs critically acclaimed pop/rock recordings have been heard on Canadian airwaves over three decades. The tenth Wilfred N & the Grown Men album, Passing Through Time, will be released next year.

But now, after multiple releases under the band moniker, Wilfred has created his debut solo collection. What’s Gonna Become of Us is a mostly instrumental album of off-beat and oddly appealing pieces with a film music sense. On this album, Wilfred plays all the instruments except for the addition of trumpets (Bob Tildesley) and banjo (Jamie Philp) on two of the tracks. Kozub's understated vocals can be heard on four of the eighteen tracks, and on those ones he doesn't sing much more than the title lines of the songs. This new direction in Kozub's writing and production is a picturesque venture into irregularly attractive music. Kozub is a painter who makes music, and a musician who creates visual scenes that are sometimes strikingly anthemic and at other times poignantly poetic.
