Album Notes
"Iniquitous".That best describes the foundation of "13", says singer songwriter Neal Sowers. "This band is very unique in it's own way. I wanted it to be as pure & real as it gets on this CD. Not packed full of shit that cannot be duplicated live on stage, honest and to the point", as he reaches for his slide to play some riffs.
"The incorporation of the slide with heavy rock is something you don't hear much of........but I fucking love it!- It gives the music a sense of a, dark edged southern vibe, meets hot rods and pin ups. Can't go wrong there!"
After the 2008 release of "Virgo Rising", Neal moved from Arizona to Los Angeles with one goal in mind....music. After a year of false starts and shake-ups he finally found a group of like minded guys that were just as enthusiastic to rock, and, they were willing to back the songs. Mike Woll on drums, Jason Simoneau on bass, and Bobby Gilmer on rhythm guitars. "We were all ready to get our feet off the ground and play", says Neal.
This is when Neal teamed up with Steve Cohen, a North Hollywood producer and engineer, to start laying tracks down. "Relax and roll with it", says Steve. Followed by, "okay, now get it done!" Upon completion of the mixes, and watching the sun come up many times, a new friendship was made as well as a kickass CD.
Been told it's, "highly enjoyable with whiskey", undoubtedly so, but really enjoyed when played loud. Catch a live show.
