ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
At a young age Thomas Jackson had to make a decision between mountain bike racing and rap. Rap won by way of outstanding factors, and thus Stresmatic also known as T.J was born. It’s been a long trail, but he has remained persistent and in 2009 has arrived with his debut solo project under the name of 1st Place.
Of course, it doesn’t begin their though. The Fairfield, California native perfected his pen skills throughout High School and at the turn of the new millennium got his break in the industry. Along with longtime friend Goldie Gold, Stres linked up with already established Alabama duo of Doonie Baby and Platinum Producer Rick Rock (think Busta Rhymes, Jay-Z, E-40, Fabolous and more) to form The Federation. Their self title debut dropped via Virgin and was responsible for the genre defining song “Hyphy” as well as other hits like “Donkey” and “Go Dumb”. For the groups second album It’s Whatever, the group moved to Warner Brothers and had another hit song Stunna Glasses. This album was another chronically slept on but incredibly potent album.
While at one point in his life bike racing and rap conflicted, when the door opened to the rap game another opportunity presented itself. “When the Federation signed with Virgin Records, I bought a Nicoli Freeride bike, a Gary Fisher mountain bike and a Cannondale Gemini! I spent almost 10 grand on bikes!” Says T.J of the newly found freedom. T.J is also an EMI song writer who has written music with Paul Wall, Masterkraft, Lil Jon, Snoop Dogg, E-40, and Young Jeezy. Not a typical rapper by any stretch of the word, with 1st Place T.J has created a bridge between his extensive musical influences with his passion to ride bicycles. Combining humor and true school lyrical aesthetic 1st Place opens up listeners to a world rarely spoken about in music from getting chased by pit bulls through the hood, to winning the lottery and doing the running man in front of the AM PM. With production from up and coming producers Dirty Beats and MTK.
