ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
398 better known as D Side is a Houston native.

He was raised in the high crime area known as Trinity Garden.

At the age of 11 he found an interest in rap music.

Inspired by rappers such as The Geto Boys, Spice 1, and Gangsta Nip, he chose to seek out a career in music.

At the age of 17 in what was a loosing battle against drug addiction (LSD), he dropped out of high school, got his G.E.D., and began to try and start his own record label.

Unable to afford the high dollar rates of producers back then, he bought himself a keyboard and learned to compose his own music.

To avoid selling drugs and getting into more trouble than was necessary, he spent most of his time recording underground tapes that he sold in his neighborhood.

After the completion of three underground tapes he gained a local following and was ready to expand to the next level.

In 1998 he endured an emotional roller coaster ride of events from becoming the father of his first child, to suffering the death of his oldest brother, to becoming the executive producer of his first CD to be released in stores, "398" Welcome To The Darkside.

This album has been in circulation since 1998 and has been sold in select stores through out the country, but is now available here at the Cd Baby web store.

Smooth seductive lyrics
I haven't had a better journey into the darkside than after listening to this cd, it was as if D-Side knew what's inside the hood and howls at the moon in answer. I want more ...

Good Beats, But... Meh.
The CD has good beats, but some of the lyrics and the vocal executions are most of the time, average or kind of "off", so to speak. If 398 is still making music, I'm hoping the next CD is better than this one.

It's dark, it's raw, and it's damb good.
I heard this cd before a few years ago. I'm glad to see it's available here at cd baby. It's hardcore but realistic. Some parts of it have an erie feel to them while other songs are even religious. I think this album as a whole is differint than anything I've heard before, and even though it's kind of an old cd the music is still good. Some music never looses it's potentcy.

It has some deep lyrics and concepts
The music is slammin and the lyrics and well written. I especially like War & Love, and Make Some Time 4 Me.

This cd has a differint sound. Welcome To The Darkside was the right name for it because thats just the vibe it gives, darkness. It's cool though, definatly worth checking out.

I'VE SEEN THE LIGHT!!!!!
D-Side ingeniously takes his listeners on an eerie, but realistic voyage into a realm and genre of music no other artist like his kind has. The end result...after he welcomes you to the Darkside, you definitely see the LIGHT!!!!

It's nice to get some extra spice in Mama's pork chops once in a while and I think that is just what happened here. I'm glad to see something different and so "from the heart" as this was. I see real stories and emotions coming out of this new artist that are real and from the heart and we all need a little dose of that to bind us down to our roots
