Album Notes
Austin, TX-based alternative-pop band 3 KISSES has played over 75 shows since their inception in January 2004 and show no signs of slowing down. They have rapidly progressed to playing big events such as the Motive Bison Stampede Half Marathon and the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure where the band performed for over 19,000 race participants in Austin and 9,000 participants in Waco. 3 KISSES supports breast cancer research by donating a portion of their CD sales to the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure and the American Cancer Society. Tish lost her mother to breast cancer in 1989 and in addition to supporting the cause with the music of 3 KISSES; she has recently become a published author with her story, Legacy, in Jack Canfield & Mark Victor Hansen's Chicken Soup for the Recovering Soul.

Tony is an attention-grabber as he simultaneously plays guitar, Roland PK5A midi pedals with his feet and sings backing vocals. Tish's unbridled energy will draw a crowd from the back of the room to the front of the stage in seconds flat. Martin Folkman, Publisher of the Musician's Atlas writes, "3 KISSES is fronted by the kinetic Tish Meeks who no guitar, mic stand or stage can contain. [The band] wasted no time winning the crowd over to their infectious songs and spontaneous performance." The primary goal of 3 KISSES every time they take the stage is to have fun! Tish's interaction with Tony and drummer Jennie Rutherford combined with her commanding stage presence invite the audience to be a part of the 3 KISSES experience.

An exquisite concoction of unusual guitar work blended with atmospheric vocals and dynamic drums, 3 KISSES encompasses the spectrum with the driving rock-funk of "Yellow" the dreamy, melodic yearning of "Wings" and the retro, 60's rock vibe of "Wastin' Time". Says Jay King, VP of Classic R&B, Thump/Universal, "Great songwriting - catchy, poppy songs. An excellent mix of yesterday and today." This diverse band is out to show you a good time!

Most recently, 3 KISSES has been featured on Rockin' Moms, Fokker Radio, Indie Artist Radio, Indie-Music.com, Rockland World Radio, The Next Big Thing, Female Musician Magazine, One Way Magazine and the Austin American-Statesman's Fall 2004 Showcase directory previewing the Central Texas Music Scene. 3 KISSES first release, Wings, prompted a publicity deal with TinderboX Music, charted up to #4 on the CMJ charts and is currently in rotation at hundreds of college radio stations across the country. The band premiered their video Yellow in September 2004 on the Austin Music Network and live on 6th Street at The Vibe. Recent performances include two showcases at SXSW in Austin, a showcase at the Millennium Music Conference in Harrisburg, PA and showcases at Garage Stock 2005 in Salem, MO and the Independent Music Conference in Philadelphia, PA. Tish Meeks and Tony Meeks are Daisy Rock Guitar official artists.

3 KISSES writes highly catchy and offbeat songs.
3 KISSES is a highly stylized pop/rock outfit that writes highly catchy and offbeat songs, which are an excellent mesh of many different musical styles. Opener Yellow is a catchy ditty that mixes intricate slap bass with interesting guitar work that swings between straight up pop and funky wah. The stylish vocals remind me of Gwen Stefani. Singer Tish Meeks has an infectious voice that rolls out her vocal hooks with ease and draws in the listener. The song is short enough and filled with enough interesting hooks to warrant multiple listens. I personally spun it 3 times before moving onto the next track and found something new with each consecutive listen. The second track, Wings, brings the mood down and lets Meeks’ vocals flow over some interesting, melodic guitar work. The guitar effects are layered, giving it the feeling of having backing keyboards, which is a nice touch. The song doesn’t lose any energy however, due to the excellent and strong rhythms provided by Ed Hale on bass and Jennie Rutherford on the drums. Wastin’ Time finishes out the demo on a strong note with an excellent dual hook, with the guitar mirrored against what sounds like a xylophone. Along with sporadic saxophone bursts, it sets a great landscape for Tish to sing around. The song is insanely catchy and was stuck in my head in seconds. 3 KISSES has made an excellent offering of their music. It’s catchy, well written, did I mention catchy? - and excellently mixed. The only unfortunate part about this CD is that it’s over too quickly. The only unfortunate part about this CD is that it’s over too quickly. I hope they put forth a longer release in the near future.

**Note - This is a demo review of the first 3 tracks on the LP Wings which is now available!

Wings is a journey to be enjoyed and asks to be taken.
With Tish supplying lyrics and melodies, Tony surrounds them with his musical magic. This is the essence of Wings and the result is a unique sound, echoing tunes of the early 70’s with an edgy contemporary twist. Three songs stand out as major representations of this album. Complete sings of the search for ultimate love. This is one of the most melodic songs on the album and is rich in acoustic guitar with layers of sub-melodies throughout. In Come Along, Tish refuses to bore listeners with vanilla lyrics. The music is filled with syncopated rhythms creating the edgy feel of being on an emotional roller coaster ride. The first song on this album is titled Yellow and is probably a good sample of the direction that 3 KISSES will be heading in future projects. This song makes you want to dance. Tony pushes it through with his cry-baby enhanced rhythm guitar while Tish sings the punchy verses with a smooth, almost velvet, tone that is destined to be a 3 KISSES trademark. 3 KISSES new album Wings is a journey to be enjoyed and asks to be taken.

Love the CD.
Love the CD. I really enjoy every song. Keep up the great work!

A sweet, innocent mood with a mature perspective
Yellow is a good start – the rambunctious mood sets the CD up well. Wings is an endearing song with a pop/rock feel. I love the acoustic guitar and upbeat, positive theme. The 60’s bubble gum feel of Wastin’ Time could use a stronger chord change, but it transitions into the next track, making it stand out more. Come Along has an excellent chord change and beautiful melody. I like that wah-wah, kind of campy touch. Seek Your Own Way has a haunting opening and is very poetic. I love the echo on the backing vocals, interesting lyrics (egocentric), conversational song, very introspective. Don’t Pretend has Beatles-like harmonies, very well done – excellent lyrics. I am seeing a pattern of very engaging lyrics. Complete comes in with a Boston-like opening with a nice echo on the vocals and nice interplay on the instruments. This song takes on a Velvet Underground persona at times, very come hither kind of song – sweet, catchy.
The Last Time has nice bass, shows the sinister side of 3 KISSES and offers very good playing and tight arrangement. Undone has a Bangles-like hardness with interesting, mature perspective lyrically, that I am finding on all your songs. However this one is a stand out. Too Late is my favorite track – I was very engaged at the beginning with the vocal tone and harder edge in the melody, David Bowie-like. Wandering came back around to the sweet tone again with beautiful singing. My overall impression of the CD is a sweet, innocent mood with a mature perspective. This very tight band harkens back to something lost in music. The thing that stands out is the contrast between lyrics that are kind of introspective and slanging at times, and that sweet sound. Well done to all players here. –Bailey Stump (San Marcos, CA)

A delight from start to finish !
3 Kisses is the multi-talented Tish Meeks on vocals, guitar, keys and sax along with her husband Tony Meeks on backing vocals and guitar. Ed Hale on bass and Jennie Rutherford on drums provide the dynamic, snappy rhythm that is a constant throughout Wings. 3 Kisses incorporates various styles into their spirited music ranging from alternative power pop to rock with shades of dance, folk and melodic. Their well-crafted lyrics look at both the good and bad experiences of life. 3 Kisses sound is unique with the use of unusual guitar chords and arrangements with punchy beats and funky keyboard effects. Tish's vocals can range from dreamy to powerful. 'Yellow' is the opening song with its catchy, colorful rhythm supported in part by animated keys. The guitars and vocal inflection are up-tempo with an edge. 'Wings' – the title track soars on a steady, snappy beat enhanced by whimsical keys. Tish's vocals reach for the sky as the guitars flow on the groove of the song. 'Seek Your Own Way' is a dazzling, vocal track strengthened by atmospheric instrumentation. 3 Kisses brings passion to their music and Wings is a delight from start to finish!

More Than Meets The Eye
You glance at the opening page of the band's website, and you really don't get much of an impression. You begin to dig deeper and realize that this is not your average band. 3 Kisses have gone through a plethora of events that might have taken them out, but they, instead, have managed to come through. Tish Meeks, who, along with husband Tony Meeks, formed the band in the late 90s, was recently published in the ever-popular Chicken Soup for the Soul series. Her story, "Legacy," was written for her mother who succumbed to breast cancer. She also uses her music as a means of recovery. Speaking of music, Tony & Tish have seens members come and go, but have finally settled their line-up with the addition of drummer Jennie Rutherford and bassist Eric McCoy. Check out the downloadable music on the band's website. I think it will suprise you. Two pieces of news: 1. Tish received an endorsement deal from Daisy Rock Guitars, who specialize in guitars for females rockers; 2. The band showcased for several majors labels.

Bright, up-tempo alternative pop
3 Kisses play bright, up-tempo alternative pop… 3 Kisses' brand of pop is hummable and sympathetic and not too sweet. Tish Meeks has a good voice for this kind of music and she and the band play well. The lovely "Wastin' Time" is my favorite song here but they're all good.

On the Path to Success
3 Kisses is a two guy/two girl Austin TX pop combo that mixes a touch of "Louie, Louie" into its confections. The female lead vox kinda evoke a late 80s-early 90s sorta Athens thing. [These]tunes are a bit funky, a bit garagey, and a bit etherial--tho not usually at the same time. Overall sound is good--I think this band could go in any direction quite successfully.

I get a lot of music from Austin, Texas, for some reason (I guess it’s because there’s a lot of good music coming from there) and here’s another band to add to that list. This four-piece (two guys and two girls) has only been together for eight months and based on that I think these people can get far. Not that this CD is perfect or anything. It isn’t. Don’t get me wrong it’s not bad either. Not at all. It’s just that the production could’ve been better. It would also have suited the alt-pop/rock sound of the band better if it was. But overall it’s pretty good anyway. Lead-singer Tish sounds kinda like a mix between Gwen Steffani and that girl from Dakoda Motor Co.

Some excellent bass playing really sparks this [CD]from 3 Kisses. In reading the bio,I was shocked to see Ed Hale had no prior bass playing experience,he plays like a 20 year pro, making 3 Kisses that much stronger. Tish Meeks has a nice voice, able to roar on songs like "Yellow" and on to the title tune, "Wings". Husband Tony and drummer Jennie Rutherford (who learned the drums on the job) round out 3 Kisses. This is nice and I really enjoyed it very much. Looking forward to hearing more from this Austin,Tx. based band.
