ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
"It's as if Foghat, Molly Hatchet, The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Poison, Mississippi John Hurt, R.L. Burnside, Skynyrd, Mudcrutch, Pete Anderson, Townes Van Zant, and Allen Toussaint gave birth to a band and the child was blessed by a honky tonk angel from the South MS/Louisiana State Line. " – A Fan

MISSISSIPPI NIGHTS, contains songs that touch on the classic southern rock sound, as well as 484's new interpretation of the genre. From the country twinge of LOST HIGHWAY and bar sing-a-long anthem BATON ROUGE, to the bluesy SEE ME and BIG MUDDY or even the country-indie alternative feel of MISSISSIPPI they strive to give raw emotion at every turn.

The album was recorded at Route One Recording in Monticello, Mississippi and co-produced by alt country and former BLACK DOG RECORDS co-owner Chris Hudson.

BAND MEMBERS:
Keith Schultz - Guitar
Twain Pigott - Guitar
David Johnson - Drums, Percussion
Don Hull - Bass
Brady Bagwell - Vocals
Jim Oakes - Vocals

The cd also features guest musician Jimmy Jarratt on piano / organ.

It's a keeper
I don't always like Southern Rock just because it's Southern Rock. It has to be good music. THIS IS GREAT! Sounds like they wrote the songs from the gut rather than from the head. I could easily fit SOUTHBOUND or I KNOW A LITTLE in with this CD and not skip a beat. So I recommend you give it a listen and buy one. Don't let this group ride off into the sunset cause i want to hear a second CD worth of music.

Highlights:
The Road - A sad and lonely tale with a great organ lightly setting the mood in the background.
Blackwater River - If you don't love the guitars and story in this one, you're obviously not from the South.
Baton Rouge - 70's quirky that screams to be heard in concert with hundred's screaming the chorus out with the band.
Mississippi - A more up-to-date indie Southern Rock. Great guitars and I love the line, "Yeah, I been kicking back laughin'". Just hits a chord with me.

Great ride!
If you love Southern Rock, circa the 70s then this is the album for you. Ballads like 'The Road' and 'Big Muddy' will have you singing along in no time. You'll be shouting the chorus to 'Baton Rouge' at the top of your lungs. The 484 South Band has put together an album of original songs that have the feel of old Southern Rock and a dash of alternative plus a little blues...It is your one stop shop for great music!

It wears like your favorite Cat hat.
Like an old pair of work boots that just seem to never lose their feel, the 484 South Band's Mississippi Nights grabs you in way that feels like home. A testament to the rural South, and the decades of influence that real Southern Pride cultivates, Mississippi Nights is both familiar and new to the fan of roots rock. A collection that plays just as well in Tennessee as it does in Louisiana, Mississippi Nights takes the listener to a place we all have known, and makes him feel the South. If you like Cat hats, mud flaps, and drinking beer outdoors, you have a new friend in The 484 South Band.

Great debut album
I bought this from one of the band members last week. Reminds me of early Black Crowes. This is a great album of southern rock/country rock songs. My favorites are Big Muddy and Blackwater River. There are some awesome leads in these that will speak to your soul. Great lyrics and twin guitar leads ala Allmans and Skynyrd. Play this in your pickup truck while riding down the dirt roads and drinking a beer. Long live The 484 South Band! Ye-haw!

If you like southern rock you will enjoy this album. It has a touch of Skynard, blues, Drivin and Cryin and straight up guitar driven rock and roll all rolled into one. Favorite tracks are Mississippi, MS Night and Blackwater River

Great southern rock sound
This album is very cool. The songs have a little bit of everything in them from blues to country to rock. Little bit of Allman Brothers, with a little Drivin and Cryin thrown in along with southern blues. Mississippi, Black Water River, Lost Highway and MS Night are my favorite tracks.
