ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
7000, also known as Dannenberg, is the musical project of Matt Bogdanowicz, a composer from Mississauga, Canada. It often features different vocalists.

His first album "Detour" is a compilation of songs written over a decade. Encompassing rock, pop, synthpop, electronic, new age, traditional music and other genres, it showcases a diversity of style and mood.

There are the evocative, atmospheric soundscapes of "Nightingale", "Taiga" and "El Niño" and the synth-padded, electronic aesthetic of "Peron (Au départ)" or "East-Northeast"; the bass-driven rock of "When I Look Back" and "Frog King" alongside Euro-pop-influenced "La Strada" and "Willow Tree".

Self-taught, Matt started out doing hip hop and techno years ago, but his ambition now lies with creating popular music in the traditional sense; songs and compositions with distinct melodies, riffs and basslines as opposed to just hooks.

He grew up with the wistful electronic sounds of the 80s, the exuberant dance-pop of the 90s and a lot of prog rock. His most enduring musical influences are Jean Michel Jarre, Mike Oldfield and Vangelis.

However, instead of attempting to emulate any particular period or style, he reimagines them, merges them or just follows his own uncharted course. The resulting 7000 sound is rich, melodic and unique.

Though most of "Detour" is instrumental, it features vocals by Marysia Bulanowski, Kat Lisowski and Matt. Kat Lisowski has also featured on 7000's "Star of the Saviour", a Christmas carol released in 2012.

Matt is working on a new album and hopes to become an even busier composer/arranger by working in the entertainment world and collaborating with other artists.
