Album Notes
GRAVITATE is the pinnacle of the last two years of the band’s hard work and will feature the signature Southern Rock, New Orleans Funk, and Roots Reggae sound that has been blowing audiences away show after show. For those who haven’t heard 8 Minutes to Burn recently, you are in for a treat! The sound and style has evolved and matured since their 2009 release GIANT MASTER CONTROL KNOB, resulting in a fresh vibe and an invigorated energy. The Band has spent months with Jim Waters at Waterworks Recording, laying down the 9 tracks for this independent release. Featuring popular tracks such as Electric Li-Ion and Feelgood Summertime Blockbuster, GRAVITATE will also bring a few new songs to the canon: Which Way to Go, Love is All Around You and Sunrise Sunset – helping to broaden the scope of the band’s artistry and sound, while reaching out to new audiences with a variety of eclectic tastes. As Dr. John says, “There are only two kinds of music, Good music and Bad music.” The fans agree - 8M2B fits into the “Good Music” category.

Well known in Tucson, AZ, 8 Minutes to Burn is a collaboration of musicians stemming from multiple musical backgrounds including Southern Rock, New Orleans Funk, The Grateful Dead and Roots Reggae. Using these musical styles as a foundation, the band places no boundaries on the music which may travel through multiple genres, all the while interweaving life lessons within the lyrics. The use of unique styles and sounds has proven to build a reputation throughout the region as a festive band, lending the opportunity to play festivals such as Gem & Jam and Wild Wild West Fest, while opening shows for a variety of national acts including Galactic, The Skatalites, Stanley Jordan, Particle, Papadosio, and Dumpstaphunk. 8M2B was featured in Relix Magazine’s Artists On The Rise in the April-May 2014 issue and will be making appearances in upcoming local, regional, and national festivals.

As the sound has developed over the last 2 years, the Lion has emerged as the 8M2B spirit animal. Recognizing the power and influence the lion has had on their music and energy, the Asiatic Lion was chosen for the album cover to call attention to the fact that even such a majestic animal at the top of the food chain can be pushed to the brink of extinction by the human hand. According to http://www.ourendangeredworld.com/ there are only 411 Asiatic lions left in the world. 8 Minutes to Burn will be using the release of GRAVITATE to promote education and conservation efforts in the Asiatic Lion's only remaining home, the GIR forest in Western India.

“8 Minutes to Burn epitomizes a genre that is under represented here in Tucson, and they do it smashingly well. For fans of reggae with bluesy departures and bits of spaced-out rock, this is the real deal.” -Tucson Weekly, Mel Mason-

”8 Minutes to Burn - they've done something pretty cool and unusual.” – Tucson Weekly

“8 Minutes To Burn, one of the Top 40 Jam Bands in the nation” – AZ Daily Sun

“This funky jam band has been around for quite some time and they, honestly, just rock. It's the same kind of bass-driven rock that reminds me of the Red Hot Chili Peppers,...so make sure to get yourself over there for tunes that, in my humble opinion, shouldn't be missed." – Tucson Weekly

“We like bands that are like mobile parties” - Tucson Citizen
