Album Notes
'Rockabilly: this was a wild music, sung by white country boys with an aggressive fanaticism, anxious to prove that hillbillies could play the blues with a beat.... ' (Evans, Mal. 'The Rock 'n' Roll Age' 2007). This is B-SIDE BAND.

B-SIDE BAND played the 50th National Jazz Festival (Tauranga) again this Easter (April 2012). They're back on the Jazz Ferry 'Kewpie' and this year they have 2 days of sailings (2pm, 4pm, 6pm). Looking forward the the same party atmosphere they had last year and positive sales of their latest CD. This Anniversary year they also play Downtown (on the Strand), for an afternoon show with guitar maestro Mike Kirk. June saw them again playing the 6th Rotorua Blues Festival. Looking good for 2012.

'... energetic jukebox melodies... although the songs recall 1950s American rhythm & blues and rockabilly tunes, the lyrics contain ironic kiwi humor.... the blues have never been this upbeat.'
Warren Brown. 'Waikato Times' newspaper 6 January 2011.

'... considerable step-up from last (CD)... full of confidence and spunk... it's 'up' music... a great listen... thoroughly enjoyed.'
Ken Usmar. 'Bay of Plenty Weekend Sun' newspaper. 3 Sept 2010.

'... one hell of a fine set of songs... a great collection and well put together.'
Mick Raye. 'Not the Royal Variety Show'. Reno - Nevada USA Sept 2010 (via internet).

'... 16 tracks in 46 minutes, they're all at jukebox, 45 rpm length... production is excellent.'
Mike Garner. 'Bay of Plenty Blues Club' newsletter. Aug/Sept 2010.

'... certainly a step forward... blending tough harmonica R&B with sweet harmonies and a very 'kiwi' sensibility.'
Winston Watusi. 'Bay of Plenty Weekend Sun' newspaper. 2 July 2010.

'... intriguing mix of rockabilly, rhythm & blues and country... excellent mix... rich sonic diversity... strong 'kiwi' theme.
Mike Jensen. 'Auckland Blues Club' newsletter. Oct 2010.

'... B-SIDE BAND is back with a barrel-full of blues bar bravado... great rockabilly brand of blues noise... tighter & heavier than their previous album... great barbecue music... bluesy and gutsy.
Bing Turkby. 'NZ Musician' magazine. Oct/Nov 2010.

Cool Kiwiana!
Read a review of this album in the Bay of Plenty Blues Club August newsletter. Said '... 16 tracks in 46 minutes, they're all at jukebox 45rpm length.... the production is excellent.' Having bought their first CD 'Pilot Bay Blues', I grabbed this one. Fabulous collection of blues, rockabilly, hillbilly, gospel, country and jazz. These guys get better and better. Saw them twice at the National Jazz Festival, over Easter weekend. Quirky kiwi flavour to their own compositions too. Top CD!!

If you're looking for an album that has such a wide and varied range of music then this is the one. It's country, rock, bluesy, jazzy and very kiwiana inspired. A very laid back easy listening .... Ha Ha Ha!

Brilliant follow up Album
Very much enjoyed this bands first Album and was excited about the release of this follow up. I was not to be disappointed, took to this album after the first play through. Good Vocals and a very talented bunch of musicians. Can't wait for their next , well done guys.
