Album Notes
But proper Samba only comes from Rio, doesn't it? That may be so, but original Berlin Samba only comes from Berlin, attractively complimented by Funk, Reggae and Pop. "Bloco Explosão" is a prizewinner at the Berlin Karneval der Kulturen, and plays at festivals, concerts and sport events.
Under Volker Conrath's direction, more than 30 drummers will take you on a musical journey from Bahia and Rio to Berlin.
Special Guests on Percussion:
Marivaldo Paim, Salvador da Bahia (Mestre of "Ilê Aiyê", plays with Arto Lindsay)
Jovi Joviniano, Rio de Janeiro ("Imperatriz Leopoldinense" Samba school, plays with Fernanda Abreu, Lenine, Marisa Monte and Roberta Sá)
You'll hear 70's rhythms from Salvador (Bloco do Indio), Reggaes, Batucada, Mystic (6/8) and Berlin Groove, all in our typical original arrangements.
