Little Strength

by Cassie Norton

Cassie's thoughtful, at times silly lyrics are brought to life through sensitive song arrangement, and diverse instrumentation; a string section, drums, slide guitar, grand piano, a trumpet, a lonesome fiddle, plus some good old fashioned harmony.

Album Notes
The songs on this album were written from the years 2004-2009, and arranged in February 2009 by Cassie Norton (me). I am a violinist, and singer songwriter. Prior to the recording of this album I played (as a violinist) with many musicians in the Montreal area. When I recorded the album I was scheduled to leave for Korea in one month. I wanted this recording to reflect my experiences as a musician in Montreal. I wanted to hear the sounds of musicians, and friends I had played with on the album. I was very lucky that it all came together into what it is. Many friends who I have worked with on past projects came through for me in a very short period of time. Dan Mckell (a partner in many musical crimes) sings with me on most tracks, Julia Narveson plays base, and Sam Vipond plays drums, Ingrid Wissink sings and plays trumpet, and Leah Mckeil plays piano (I worked with Ingrid, Leah, and Sam on the album "Congratulations" with the band "Wet Nose Hero"). Many other small acoustic surprises by other wonderful musicians await you. The album is diverse instrumentation, because that is what my ears were searching for at the time. If you are interested in listening to complete tracks please visit www.myspace.com/cassienorton. Some of the songs posted there are on the album. I haven't had the funds to produce the album until now (May 2010). The artwork is a collaboration between myself and a wonderful Korean artist named Suh Bokyung. I have been living, working as a kindergarten english/music teacher, and playing music in Korea for the past year, and plan to travel, and study music in India in the next year. If you got to the end of this album description, thanks for reading. I hope that my music also reaches you.
