ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
In the artistic and spiritual ecocommunity of Damanhur – which has been awarded by an agency of the United Nations as a model for a sustainable future. – is a beautiful choir of singing trees.

Founded in 1975, Damanhur is a collective dream transformed into reality thanks to the creative power of positive thought, a federation of spiritual and artistic communities (approximately 600 people) nestled in the hills of Northern Italy that promotes a culture of peace and holistic sustainability through solidarity, respect for the environment, arts and education.

In Damanhur, research of Music of the Plants came about from the desire to re-establish a balanced relationship with the environment and nature. For example, as part of our spiritual path, Damanhurians chose an animal and plant name that we identify with in order to maintain awareness of this relationship and the symbiosis we have with animals and plants.

Researching and exploring aspects of human potentiality results in the amplification of individual sensitivity. As such, it's easy to intuit that plants, just like humans, animals, and other life forms, have their own intelligence and sensitivity. If you have spent some time in the woods, you know how you feel better, more relaxed and in balance after just a little time in contact with plant life. Plants are beings that are complimentary to us, with which we can create a mutually beneficial exchange.

As early as 1976, Damanhurian researchers had created equipment capable of capturing electromagnetic changes on the surface of leaves and roots and transforming them into sounds. The trees learn to control their electrical responses, as if they are aware of the music they are creating.

The desire for deep contact with nature inspires "Plant Concerts", where musicians perform to the accompaniment of melodies created by trees and plants. Concerts by singing plants are held regularly in Damanhur and have been presented at festivals in Europe, India, the United States and Canada.

This CD includes songs recorded with many different plants over 15 years. The first part of the CD contains tracks recorded live in concert.

Designed and arranged by Cigno Banana.

LOVE
I had come across some microbe music a while ago and I had been longing for more tunes created by nature. After listening to a couple of the samples, I purchased the whole album. I listen to it while I paint as background music and it creates a serene and positive atmosphere. Our plant friends make wonderful musicians! Highly recommended!
