ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
This album is a result of Efrats first three years living as a musician in NYC. The cover songs on this album are some of her very favorites.
SERENADE - Serenade is a love song. It is a duet between the violin and trumpet (Joe Magnarelli) and takes influence from both jazz standards like Sonara by Hampton Hawes and the classical writing of Brahms. It is a tune sure to make you swoon.
NO STRINGS ATTACHED - The title song of the album was featured in the movie, "How To Seduce Difficult Women" and received wide recognition and excitement following the release of the movie trailer. It has a big band feel, but the horns one usually hears are replaced with a violin choir. It has a feel similar to that of many Squirrel Nut Zippers songs.. If you like that band, or dancing swing music.. this is the song for you
I FALL IN LOVE TOO EASILY - is a beautiful song that has been covered by all the greats.. from Sarah Vaughan to Chet Baker... this arrangement.. with a beautiful string quartet in the background was done by Ruslan Khain
BLACK ORPHEUS - is my favorite bossa nova. To me, this song is the most influential important song of all Latin songs... through the movie (same title) this song and Luis Bonfa brought Bosa Nova to America and the rest of the world. The arrangement here includes a backing harmony to the original melody on the trumpet (Joe Magnarelli).
MY ONE AND ONLY LOVE - This version of the famous song is in trio form. The magnificent Harry Whitaker takes the piano and beautifully weaves around the melody of the violin and added harmony in the violin. it will serenade you into a stupor of love!
EAST OF THE SUN - Another song with a string quartet backing up the band... beautiful arrangement by Ivan Vasiev of DDT (one of the most famous Russian pop groups)
SO LATE - This song comes from Efrats' love of Modal works. It takes its idea from SO WHAT by Miles Davis... but combines it with the bluegrass sounds that come so naturally to a violin... It swings like jazz and makes you wanna jump like bluegrass!
NICE WORK IF YOU CAN GET IT - Another of the three songs recorded in Russia, this is another arrangement with string quartet by Ruslan Khain
TEACH ME TONIGHT - A song of love and seduction to round out the sultriness of this recording! Efrat sings softly accompanied by Saul Rubin on Guitar, Michael O'Brien on bass,... and a soft violin duo to add sounds of haunting and sweetness below the vocals...
NO STRINGS ATTACHED - this is the instrumental version of the title track... you can sing along if you like!!! (if you can keep yourself from dancing long enough to do so!!!!)
