ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
After discovering that his musician grandmother had traveled the country playing in an all-woman orchestra, singer/songwriter Hans Mayer wrote a series of instrumentals in her honor. Most of the pieces evoke the landmarks ("Coon Creek") and places ("Minor Diner") of the beloved countryside of Wisconsin. Others describe the events ("Raising the Barn") and the people (like the haunting and danceable, "Nana'a Waltz") that form his memories of home, land, and family. Hans builds a full and evocative acoustic-based sound with a swinging waltz rhythm on guitar, mandolin, bass, and slide guitar.
