Album Notes

Jack Woodbridge’s latest effort is an ACE high straight from the heart. Woodbridge is a superb singer/songwriter/pianist and this is his most inspired recording to date.
His musicality and narrative lyrics deal a gutsy tenderness that few artists can hope to deliver. It’s easy to recognize who Woodbridge’s musical influences are: McCartney, Elton, Billy Joel, Warren Zevon and Cole Porter. My God, even shades of a Costello/Bacharach collaboration!

Throughout the 12 heartfelt original songs, grace, style and sophistication are ALL IN this hypnotic pop/rocker. Lush arrangements and pristine production ala “Gold record guitarist/Producer” Dean Bailin cohesively shine from start to finish.

My current favorite track (it changes after each listening) is “My Friend” this exquisitely heartbreaking tune could easily have been written by Keith Richards to his lost comrade Gram Parsons, or perhaps another tearful ballad from Neil Young to Crazy Horse guitarist Danny Whitten. It speaks volumes about life and all of our vulnerability as loving humans.

The song “Second Chance” is Woodbridge’s shout at the world that “it ain’t over till it’s over”. I am not sure what tribulations he had to overcome but brother, he tells us to seize the day. As I mentioned my favorite tune is typically the last one I just listened to from this outstanding album. CASH YOUR CHIPS IN and buy this winner!
