ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
“LeMonds” was recorded in the tower of an 800 year old castle in Austria, and in Madison, Wisconsin /USA. during the fall of 2009.
The supporting musicians are recording artists that I’ve worked with over the past decades. The husband/wife duo of Mary Gaines and Chris Wagoner of Madison, Wisconsin, sometimes know as the “Swiss-knives of studio work”, added vocal harmonies, cello, bass, mandolin, violin, ukulele and accordion. They have done studio work for a multitude of folk, pop and indie artists such as, U2, Smashing Pumpkins, Garbage, Carrie Newcomer and Freedy Johnston.

Arkadiy Yushin, producer, electric guitarist, acoustic guitarist and composer extraordinaire, born in Belarus and living in the US for the past 12 years, added his guitar playing to the arrangements. He found simple, but very effective parts for each song, never over playing, and showing his remarkable abilities as a sideman and live player. He has worked with among others Peter Ostroushko, Willy Murphy, Joey McIntyre, Anthony Cox and Adi Yeshaya.

A special guest on the recording is Wisconsin guitarist and mandolin player Chris Silver, who played on Chuck's first album and was on the first tour in Europe with him back in 1985. Chris Silver has toured in Japan, Germany, Austria, Mexico and throughout the USA with various bluegrass bands and is regularly a guest on the radio program “Prairie Home Companion”.

Best Ever!
I've known Chuck since the early 1980's - I met him in the fall of 1983, as a matter of fact. He was playing banjo back then, and studying (supposedly) at the University of Wisconsin, Eau Claire. In the mid 80's he put out a couple of cassettes with a group called Chesapeake. I wish I still had those tapes! They were great! His music has matured considerably since then, and I think that this is his best production to date. Very clean, and backed up by some of the best musicians out there!

love this cd, baby.
I love every song on this CD. Some of the songs have an edgy quality; many are gentle with beautiful harmony that makes me want to close my eyes, sway and listen. The lyrics tell stories about issues, experiences . . . about life—and even though they are personal to Chuck—I find myself relating to them in a way that is personal to me and my life.

LeMonds
His music comes from the heart of a singer/songwriter. A mature style that tackles social and political issues with great insight. Don't be fooled though he can also write a really sweet ukulele song, like "Golda's Ukulele".

Great CD
Chuck's newest CD is one that should be in everyone's collection. He has wrttien some fabulous songs and pulled togehter some great talent to support him in the recording. My favorite songs on the CD are one to his daugher, called "Golda's Ukelele", "If You Ever Wake Up" and "Life Insurance with the NRA", but I love them all. I've known Chuck's work for decades and he continues to put out great music.

Big thumbs-up for 'LeMonds'
As time goes by, I enjoy Chuck Le Monds' music more and more. Every
next listen to 'LeMonds' opens up new doors on the meaning of his
lyrics. This latest album of his contains a few songs, like
'Slipping Away,' 'If you wake Up' and the 'Monastery' that go beyond
this moment and talk about some big & thorny things in life. The
lyrics get under my skin and come back to haunt me. I know this
singer's been mulling things over for many years. If the song's
tinged with sadness or regret, there's still such a wonderful
joyfulness in his voice throughout this cd that makes it all go down
like the sweetest honey on cold midsummer ice-cream. He writes
songs with deceptive simplicity, as did Woody Guthrie, whose songs
became traditional thoughout the USA . This is no small feat and it
should happen for Chuck LeMonds as well, before too much more time
slips away.
