Blue in Hawaii

Hawaiian steel guitars, surf sounds, accordions and rhythms as rough as the angry ocean accompany red-hot rancheras, ghastly gunfighter-ballads, bone-dry drinking songs and brutal boleros full of passion and a yearning for the unknown.

ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
When the songs have been sung, the guitars, guns and accordions have fallen silent and the hard work on the ranch is done, Los Santos like to bring their surfboards out onto the water.

However the Río Grande is no longer a challenge even for the most easy going surfers.
The monster waves of Hawaii, a foreign culture, unknown drinks and exotic beauties (who are almost irresistable even for saints) were all excellent reasons to take a trip to this island paradise.
On their new CD “Blue in Hawaii“ we can now appreciate what they heard and experienced there:
Hawaiian steel guitars, surf sounds and rhythms as rough as the angry ocean accompany red-hot rancheras, ghastly gunfighter-ballads, bone-dry drinking songs, brutal boleros full of passion and a yearning for the unknown.
Even when the sun is shining from a clear blue sky, when people are smiling under tropical nights and there is no lack of fresh seafood, pineapple and coconut, we realize again and again:
the desert is a part of us.

...saludos los santos, suenan muy bien y tocan excelente, dan ganas de sacar el caballo y recorrer las llanuras de nuevo...
...Nice sound, and very good steel guitar!
...You guys are great! I love the accordion and the killer steel...
...Great songs, great music, great sombreros..."
(www.myspace.com, 11/19/2009)

... Blue in Hawaii is a Western/ Tex-Mex celebration performed by stellar musicians. Instrumentation includes pedal steel, ukulele, dobro, banjo, and of course, accordion – Stefan Hiss is an amazing accordionist! (...)
One of my personal favs on the album is “Johnny Guitar” (a great tune written by Peggy Lee and Victor Young for the 1954 movie). They’ve captured just the right amount of “Out West” surrealism.(...)
And their version of “Rag Mop” swings!
