Album Notes
As with most albums, ‘God Blackjack,’ has been in the back of my mind for sometime now. Prior to this CD, it seems that all my Albums, I have tried my best to pack it out, and fill it till the end of the CD, trying to take up as much space as I possible. My friends would mention that I have a lot to say, but regardless, while most Artist try to come up with tracks to fill their Album out, I’m usually trying to cut tracks off my production, because of length of time.

Times have changed so much, in the 60’s, and 70’s, most albums only had 10 tracks, leaving the listener left wanting more, but through generations, we have entered into an arena where the CD is now an entire event, with Interludes, and skits, with only minutes to spare on the production.

‘God Blackjack,’ is my homage to the CDs of the past. I could’ve just as well made this a full length CD, and as always, I found myself cutting down tracks, wanting to stay true to my intent, I held off on poems and ideas that would have made the Album had I designed it to play for 80 minutes (Maximum Time on a CD). But in doing so, I find that this CD in itself has became an All Star Album, cutting off the tracks that I would normally skip through or may not perform, the poems that made it on this CD, I feel expose and speak such volumes, just as much or more so than any poems I’ve produced for an album.

The name, ‘God Blackjack,’ came to me a few years ago, when I was in Las Vegas. I’m not usually one to gamble, but it just so happens that a friend of mine came to see me from out of town, and coaxed me into going to the casinos. Turns out, while her luck wasn’t on, I was winning big at the Blackjack Table. Shocked to see me gambling larger amounts of money, and continuing to win, she shook her head and rhetorically asked how could I be on such a roll, and I just laughed, and shot back, ‘Because, I’m God Blackjack.” Instantly, I knew I was going to name that the title of one of my albums, simply, just for the hell of it.

It just so happens that to me, every CD I have produced seems to have it own feeling, not one album feels similar to another, they all have their own personality, and ‘God Blackjack,’ is no different. Sometimes you have to take a gamble, like you’re at the Blackjack Table, knowing that the only thing on your side, is God. That has seemed very much like my lifestyle, the roads I’ve taken, it’s been a Blackjack Table. Need I say more?
