Songs from the Vault, vol. 1

by Matthew Ebel

Some call him a cross between Ben Folds and Jonathan Coulton. Others have likened him to early Billy Joel or Elton John. Matthew just thinks he doesn't suck.

ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
For Matthew Ebel, music is the key to the journey of life, not just the destination. Whether it’s outer space adventures or a single father struggling to make a Christmas for his daughter, Matthew's songs and stories resonate in the minds and hearts of an ever-increasing fan base. Ebel is also paving the way in the new music economy, showing that it is possible for independent artists to support themselves through their music; growing his audience by utilizing new tools available to artists.

“I want people to take my music and then go off and create something on their own," says Matthew. "The greatest thrill for me is when people write blog posts based on my music or are inspired to do a version of one of my songs in their college choir – it’s the act of creating something new from my work. It’s amazing.”

Fully immersed in the new digital music world, Matthew is committed to being a trailblazer for other artists. “I want to leave a legacy for other musicians and show them that it’s possible to be a one man operation or a small band and do it on your own. I’m always looking for new ways to do that for myself and I’ll be letting people know where I’ve succeeded and let them know what to avoid from my failures,” he says.

"Songs from the Vault, vol. 1" is the culmination of the first six months of Matthew Ebel dot net. Every month he sends two new songs to his subscribers, and now those songs are available here on CD Baby and elsewhere!

Piano Pop at It's Finest
Matthew continually delivers the quirky style of pop piano fun that we've all grown to love. It doesn't matter if you need the perfect chilled out party mix or need some music that will make you think to fully get the jokes, this album does both. He is the type of storytelling piano player that I wish there were more of in the world. This would make a great holiday gift for anyone on your list that loves music.

Fantastic Sojourn
Ebel's latest release is a fantastic musical sojourn highlighting an array of genres and styles. Sometimes political, sometimes geeky, and sometimes funny, Ebel's candid musical story telling is refreshing and appreciated.

Another wonderful album.
This is another wonderful collection of music. There isn't much that can be said other then there needs to be more music like this. I purchased this album a few weeks ago and it is still in my cd player in my car. I just cannot stop listening to it.

Dam Good Music
I'd say that I'm a casual fan of most musicians I listen, but I cannot say that about Matthew Ebel. He's one of the the Very few artists that I ave bought ALL of their albums. While I would not say he was the BEST, I would say he is DAM GOOD.

I like Dam Good music, and Matthew has it in spades, mp3's, and CD's!

from whimsical, to heartbreaking, to catchy bouncy coffee house folk rock.

They Got The Money is as current a modern topical song can be, with all the best parts taken from yesterdays headlines, followed up by It's Raining Bankers which is rather amusing in it's own right
