ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Looney Tunes & Merrie Melodies were originally created to popularize songs from Warner Bros. musicals and songs that Warner Bros. owned the publishing rights to. So music and song has always been integral to them. Many kids' first exposure to classical music and jazz standards is via Warner Bros. cartoons. However, we usually only hear 5 seconds or less of the lyrics. Now you can hear these songs in context, as they were written, delivered by with a jazzy old-timey flair.

Musicians on this album are or have been members of The Cheap Suit Serenaders, Janet Klein & Her Parlor Boys, Penelope Houston's Band, the Terminators of Endearment, Cats & Jammers and other San Francisco Bay Area bands of renown.

Megan Lynch is a singer/songwriter who always makes an impression whether it's singing torch songs, yodeling old cowboy tunes, belting classic Broadway or crooning sweet nothings.

Adult versions of songs we loved as kids
Ms Lynch does some wonderful versions of the songs you thought you knew. While Carl Stalling's versions were over-the-top, hers are mellow, folksy, jazzy, yet always interesting. Some great backup musicians including Bob Armstrong and Tony Marcus from the Cheap Suit Serenaders. Buy this one!

Great Voice + Great Music = Great Album!
Megan has an awesome voice. And she knows how to use it. Smooth, full-bodied and rich with subtle hints of sweetness just like a nice glass of Merlot: she is a pleasure to listen to whatever she's singing. If you grew up with Looney Tunes in the theater or every Saturday morning you'll love hearing the "roots" of the music you sang along to back then. Megan and her band do them all justice and more. It's a fun romp down memory lane. So what are you waiting for?

A great "old-timey" sound!
It's true, simply hearing these songs I can visualize the Looney Tunes they were showcased in. But here, they're given more than mere "novelty" treatment----Megan has a lovely, sexy croon to her voice that's perfectly suited to this era, and the orchestration is top-notch, especially their rendition of the classic "It's Magic." (I love to hear the eerie sounds of saw playing!) Loads of fun!

Singable! Wears well on repeated listening.
Find out the rest of the song The Singing Frog sang! A sweet, clear rendering on the tunes on first listening. On repeated listening, the energy and style of her accompanists impresses me -- fiddle on "We're In The Money", theremin-like musical saw, guitar throughout. Favorites? My son had to tell me to stop singing "Hello Ma Baby" and "Someone's Rocking My Dreamboat" after I first got this.
