Album Notes
Having an authentic entertainer will definitely make your destination dreams come alive!!!

Mello's steel drum, the lead instrument in his group, if needed he is backed by two (2) other talented musicians forming the band. From your traditional ceremony, Here Comes the Bride and Recessional March, followed by free flowing steel drum music on your cocktail hour and on to an all out Caribbean party for your reception or Caribbean theme event, Mello Vibes will compliment.

Mello originally began and still performs as a solo steel drum artist/one man band, who can perform instrumentally as your ambiance. In addition, he can add vocals to the performance for your "Caribbean Party Crowd".

Over the past few years he has acquired two (2) very talented musicians that complete the Caribbean duo/trio cover band, whose instruments are guitar and/or percussion.

The most recent accomplishment for Mello Vibes being the second place prize in the 2006 Tampa Bay Idol Talent Competition; taking his instrument on a voyage, serenading the listeners with its unique sound.

I had a destination wedding from Indiana to Dunedin, Florida. The only chance I had to listen to Mello's music was over the internet. I only spoke to him 2 times over the phone before the wedding. All my nerves were gone as soon as I saw him on the beach ready to perform before the ceremony. He did an amazing job! He also performed during the reception on the beach at Honeymoon Island. He had all my friends up dancing for several hours. Everyone was excited to hear something different than the traditional DJ. I would suggest him to anyone. Thanks Mello! You were awesome! Mello is fantastic. Numerous guests marveled at what a talented musician he is. He´s extremely professional, arriving on time, playing according to our contract, and expertly judging the mood of the crowd to adjust volume and tempo. He´s also really friendly and personable. Even the Hotel Coordinator for our event was amazed at how great he is to work with and hoped he would return to the hotel in the future. You won´t go wrong if you hire him.

Great mix of moody consistency & expressive exuberance
Shamel “Mello Vibes” Proctor has been playing the steel drums since age nine, and he has been performing in solo, duo or trio configurations since 2004. His debut album demonstrates that he is well versed in how to adapt reggae, R&B, calypso, and soft rock to his instrument. Covers are drawn from the works of Stevie Wonder, Carlos Santana, Bob Marley, The Eagles, and others. In his self-penned “Cordially,” Proctor introduces himself, his music, and his native home of St. Croix in the Virgin Islands. A couple other friends playing pivotal roles in the production of “Feelin’ the Vibes” are recording engineer Ted Henderson and multi-instrumentalist Raymond Fitzpatrick who contributed some piano, bass, rhythm guitar and vocals. Fitzpatrick also wrote three (Wave a la Caribe; Gotta Give it Back; Curry) of the ten cuts on this happy, stylish album. Given that Mello Vibes performs at hotels, restaurants and on cruise liners, he strives for a mix of moody consistency and expressive exuberance. The consistency is a good thing for knowing exactly what to expect and feel from Mello’s upbeat energy. Arrangements incorporate a variety of synthesized and sampled sounds to provide a foundation overlain by the steel pans’ spirited conversation. Occasional vocals (Proctor, Fitzpatrick, Winsome and Jennifer Gordon-Martin) are affable and welcome for added diversity. The soothing and seductive lead guitar work of Matthew Joseph and Leroy Guiste are also unpretentious supplements that enhance rather than overpower the album. Mello’s modest lines are always front and center, as well as played with considerable “pan-ache.” With his steel pans, Mello Vibes has created a “pan-global” aesthetic that will be widely accepted and welcomed on a worldwide music scene.
