ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
"It's Not The Whiskey" is the second CD from NYC based Irish musicians, The Mickey Finns. A blend of original compositions, along with traditional Irish tunes, this album looks to be a breakthrough for the band. Recorded in NYC with producer, Eric Kaye, the album finds the band at the top of their game as writers and as performers. Ray Kelly's whiskey-soaked voice is as rich and distinctive as any Irish singer today. The fiddle playing of Matt Mancuso on "It's Not The Whiskey" has been described by The Irish Voice newspaper as "genius". Percussionist, Brian Tracey, adds a whirl of exciting rhythms to round out the sound. The new album is both rooted deeply in Irish tradition, while sounding like a contemporary world recording. Imagine a blend of The Pogues and The Clancy Brothers, with Rusted Root and Kila. That's what The Mickey Finns sound like. Enjoy the music!
