Album Notes
Singer/songwriter and U.S. Marine Mike Corrado garnered national radio and television airplay after releasing his song “On My Watch Tonight” from his 2005 album Falling Awake. The song, which features guest vocals from friend and multi-platinum artist Edwin McCain (I’ll Be/I Could Not Ask For More) is the story of a Marine’s journey from Boot Camp to the front lines, and quickly became an anthem for service men and women past and present around the world.

The lead single and title track of Mike Corrado’s new EP “Stand” follows in the footsteps of “On My Watch Tonight” and along with the rest of the EP further demonstrate Mike’s genre-crossing sound. On the songs “Stand” and “Bottle of Sunshine” Mike again teams up Edwin McCain who lent the backing vocals to the tracks.

Produced by veteran producer Noel Golden (Edwin McCain, matchbox twenty, Willie Nelson, Lee Ann Womack and many more) Stand is filled with pop, country and rock influences.

“With ‘Stand’ I wanted to really hone the songwriting and craftsmanship that goes into each song. In releasing an EP, it allowed me to focus my efforts on a few songs and pour a lot of heart and soul into them, really crafting each one. And working with Noel [Golden] was great, he knew where I want to go with each song then took it to a whole new level.” Corrado said.

Shortly after recording this album, Mike had the opportunity to try out a couple of the songs on the big stage during an opening spot for Bon Jovi at the Blaisdell Arena in Honolulu, Hawaii which was the kick off to their world tour for their latest album "The Circle."

The album includes four tracks and chronicles the duality of Mike’s military and music career. This EP could be broken down into two parts. Part one being the first two songs “Stand” and “Lucky One” which draw upon Mike’s military experience and part two being the last two songs “I’m Not Dreaming” and “Bottle of Sunshine” which draw upon emotions relating to love, relationships and family.

Part One: “Stand” charts familiar ground for Corrado, as his story winds the listener through a patriotic look into the service and sacrifices of service members, veterans and their families. “Lucky One” details the darker side of service and combat deployments painting the picture of a service member struggling with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) after the main character of the song returns home after losing three of he closest friends to an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) blast. “I’ve been fortunate to have had the opportunity to perform for events involving Veterans and Wounded Warriors. This song is the culmination of several stories all wrapped into one and based on my deployment to Iraq and in listening to the stories and accounts of service members dealing with PTSD.” Corrado said. The song also features backing vocals by Mike’s friend and fellow recording artist Spencer Rush.

Part Two consists of “I’m Not Dreaming” a song he co-wrote with Los Angeles, CA based composer/producer Kevin Teasley. Mike said, “Kevin sent me this song a couple years ago and asked me to write the lyrics to it for a film project he was working on. We originally wrote it for someone else to sing and I always loved the song. It took sitting on it a few years and making a few adjustments to release it in a style better suited for me. I’m a huge fan of big power-ballads and this one just felt right.” The final song on the album is “Bottle of Sunshine” a bouncy, feel-good song he co-wrote with Nashville-based country artist Benton Blount and producer Noel Golden. The song is a light hearted look at that person who can brighten your day with just the very thought of them. Sure to be a summer time smash.

The line up on this album consists of Mike Corrado on vocals, acoustic guitar, Ronald Radford (Marshall Tucker/Randy Travis) on electric guitars, pedal steel, ganjo, Adrian Duke on piano, Wurlitzer, and Hammond B3, Larry Chaney (Edwin McCain) on rhythm & lead guitars, Scotty Hawkins (Reba McIntyre, Brooks & Dunn) on drums, Mark McMakin on bass, Edwin McCain, background vocals on "Bottle of Sunshine" and "Stand,” Spencer Rush, background vocals on "Lucky One,” Steve Keeter with additional keyboards and Noel Golden on percussion.
