Album Notes
This live recording of Nicole Kafka's debut cabaret show is also her first CD, after many year of performance. Nicole's cabaret show, "Deliciously Twisted" uses standards and not-so-standards, interspersed with patter, to explore her life so far as student, doctor, singer , and woman. Her writing and song choice merge seamlessly with her performance. She is accompanied by paino, guitar, bass and violin.

Nicole Kafka is a talented Renaissance woman. A surgeon by day, she has sung in venues as disparate as New Jersey bars, Nyack clubs, Harvard University and Carnegie Hall. She has sung in choruses, bands, and as a solo artist and is a member of the Magic Circle Opera Repertory Ensemble.

Originally trained as a classical singer, her current repertory extends from opera to pop and country, including cabaret, show tunes and jazz. Her big voice, full clear tones and musicianship are matched only by her beauty, charm and wit. She is a member of MAC (the Manhattan Association of Cabaret and Clubs) - and a fellow of the American College of Surgeons. Her first cabaret show was carefully designed to showcase many, many aspects of this exciting performer. It is by turns funny, touching, and heartwarming. After years caring for others, she says, "this one's all about me".

Music director and pianist, David Shenton, has established an enviable reputation as a pianist, violinist, composer, and arranger. He is recognized internationally as an expert musical director and accompanist. As a pianist, David works regularly with renowned singers and has released a solo CD of his own compositions. He can be heard in all his roles on other CDs on several labels. As a violinist, he has performed frequently as a soloist, with leading orchestras. He is the composer of five musicals, a film score, and more than 100 other original compositions. His arrangements have been sought out by numerous performers, studies, movie studios. and Broadway, West End and European shows..

Guitarist, vocalist Pat Jones is a versatile instrumentalist, singer, composer and actor with influences ranging from folk to rock and roll, jazz and classical music. He has several solo and band CDs available for purchase. He has been performing worldwide and recording since the 1970s. He is currently he enrolled at Hunter College, working toward a bachelor’s degree in science. His website is www.patjones.tv.

Bass player, Mark Wade has appeared on the Today Show and with the Key West Symphony Orchestra. For two years, he performed weekly at Birdland. He is currently Principal Bassist with the 92nd Street YMCA Orchestra, a position he has held for 4 years. He can currently be seen leading his own group at Cornelia Street Cafe.

Sarah Charness is a versatile violinist, at home in the worlds of classical, contemporary, and popular music. Her performances have taken her from Lincoln Center to the Today Show. She is a graduate of the University of Michigan.
