Yolané

by Pascale Gautier quartet

This second album is to be savoured like a box of chocolates. A collection of imaginative melodies interpreted sumptuously in French and in English, Yolané broadens the definition of jazz by blending poetry in the lyrics with numerous musical landscapes.

ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Originating in the city of Montpellier, southern France, the Pascale Gautier Quartet wanders on the paths of swing and South American music while remaining deliberately entrenched in European jazz in its current form.

"Yolané" is the second album by this tasteful quartet. The 11 original compositions on this album are linked by a very personal and delicate esthetic sense in which the melody is always kept as a central focus.

Featured on this album are: Thierry Gautier (piano, composition, arrangements), Jean-Pierre Barreda (double bass), Michael Santanastasio (drums) and Pascale Gautier (vocals). They were joined by two guest artists, Thomas Fontvielle (guitar) on "Yolané" and David Richard (accordion) on "Lubie".

This album's lyrics were composed by Thierry Gautier for French, and by Fabienne Pizot-Haymore for English. Alternatively poetic, sassy and tender, these texts coexist with instrumental compositions in which the voice scats following imaginary acrobatic figures.

__________________________________________________________________________________________________
