ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
The selection of songs on the “Solo” album were originally recorded in the Philippines by Villar Records in the 50’s,60’s and 70’s. These songs are written by some of the most celebrated composers of their time and now considered classics in the Philippines. The original lyrics were translated into Spanish by Teo Franco who has worked with artists such as Placido Domingo and Luis Miguel. The arrangements are a mixture of contemporary and traditional flavor.
The vocal stylings of Roland Valentino is smooth and full of emotion. Teo Franco’s arrangements with his requinto truly captivates the Spanish influence in Philippine music. While Bill Newlin’s contemporary arrangements breathes new life to the songs. The trumpet of Ramon Flores adds latin spice to the mix. And the world famous Trio Los Panchos’ blend of their guitars and incomparable vocals takes you back to the tropical islands. The producers of this album vision is to share some of the Philippines’ original music with the rest of the world and hopefully translate the lyrics into other languages.
