ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Sarah Jane McMahon enjoys a career of rare distinction on two continents. Greatly acclaimed for her singing, musicality, and acting, the New Orleans born soprano has performed throughout the United States, as well as Germany and Austria.
A particular favorite of the New York City Opera, Sarah Jane was awarded the KolozsvarAward for her performance as Galatea in Handel’s Acis and Galatea. Always happy to perform in her home town, Sarah Jane has delighted local audiences with numerous performances, including Puccini’s La Bohème, Bizet’s Carmen, and Bernstein’s West Side Story, to name only a few. To be remembered forever by those lucky enough to hear it was her duet of “Tonight” with legendary tenor Plácido Domingo, part of an extraordinary 2009 concert to re-open The Mahalia Jackson Theater for the Performing Arts which had been shuttered since Hurricane Katrina.
Sarah Jane McMahon is an artist who redefines the word “versatility.” She is equally at home in opera, operetta, the Broadway stage, and especially in the prayerful world of sacred music. Wherever she appears, Sarah Jane McMahon upholds the highest of vocal virtues and acquires new fans and admirers whenever she sings.
She is a summa cum laude graduate of Loyola University, New Orleans and Yale University. This is her second solo compact disc recording. Her first, the highly acclaimed “I Thank My God” is available from her website, www.sarahjanemcmahon.com.

Sarah Jane McMahon, building on the success of her recent sacred album “I Thank My God,” has now fulfilled a long awaited dream of recording her very first compact disc devoted exclusively to the music of Christmas.
Each selection on this recording was lovingly and carefully chosen -- from freshly minted arrangements of beloved traditional carols to the sparkling Baroque brilliance of Handel and Mozart. To add to your listening pleasure, Sarah Jane is accompanied by a hand-picked ensemble of some of the finest musicians in the New Orleans area.
There are very few artists singing today who are as versatile as Sarah Jane. She is equally at home in the lofty heights of grand opera as in the big band sound of “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas.”
Whether you are already familiar with the artistry of Sarah Jane McMahon or discovering her beautiful soprano voice for the first time, you are in store for a wonderful Christmastime listening experience -- a recording to treasure for years to come!
