Album Notes
New Orleans natives Paul Sanchez and Shamarr Allen have both made names for themselves as multi-talented, charismatic musicians, both locally and nationally. Paul continues to wow audiences with his singing, songwriting and storytelling, playing either solo, with John Boutte, or with Paul Sanchez and the Rolling Road Show. In addition to his solo efforts and playing with his band the Underdawgs, Shamarr and his trumpet added national tours with Galactic and Willie Nelson among others to his resume this year.
Bridging the Gap is based on Paul’s choice of songs from his generation of rock music for Shamarr and vice versa. Shamarr recorded a version of John Lennon’s Instant Karma and Paul’s first challenge was Kayne West’s Heartless.
This latest collaboration hopes to continue the spirit of community of New Orleans music now growing on Threadhead Records. Its goal is to explore the cultural and generational gaps to do what music does best, communicate and connect.
