Album Notes
“What are we all living for?
If nothing’s worth dying for tonight
Your dreams are not enough
What I need is love
That’s worth laying down my life” from Lullaby by Thrice

Imagine a mysterious desert city that only exists once every full moon - its inhabitants suspended in time for all but a single night a month. What would you do if you could only truly live for this night, and this night only... In a metropolis full of people who know they have only a few precious hours to fulfil their destiny, these are their stories. Welcome to Lunacity.

Lunacity is an exciting fusion of styles: The title track Lunacity, features world music influences in middle eastern beats and exotic modes, moving through old skool jungle and hip-hop beats, and finally layering Baroque 4 part counterpoint to create a powerful, and heart racing explosion for the senses. “Mind Games”, (winner of the Jazz Section of the 1233 ABC Newcastle Music Awards in 2008) begins with hypnotic tuned percussion, before fusion beats, and Latin piano montunos, transport the listener to other lands. The timeless standard “The Shadow of Your Smile” gets a makeover, starting with a lonely piano reharmonizing the melody, before being joined by bossa nova acoustic guitar. Images of Ibiza waft through as dance and funk beats compete for attention. The original “Moving Toward the Light” is a tender exploration of the delicate balance between life and death. The recording also features guest artists Tom Williams on soprano saxophone, Grant Fraser on acoustic guitar, and Peter Gray on fretless bass. Lunacity can be purchased online at: terencekoo.com
